We should actually use an opensource, decentralized and private alternative instead of relying on another centralized service

See Fileverse for example: https://fileverse.io/

I had never heard of peertube before. I really liked it and this video had great production value. I love when they use their own footage. Also, don't forget your croissant

At least where I'm from, some stores offer discount for cash greater than the cashback. I always ask :)

As much skepticism as it might have, if you can't use cash for a transaction, crypto is another viable alternative which can be decentralized, trustless and private preserving, as long as you don't fall for VC scams like Solana, Avalanche, Sui, etc

As always, DYOR

I bought a refurbished old laser brother 5 years ago and it's a tank. I'd go that route again personally

The worst part is that parking lot is probably mandatory per city regulations. We should abolish parking mandates country wide! (and you can help too, see https://parkingreform.org/)

What do you use against fire ants?

Native plants ftw! Did anyone look into pocket forests too? I'll try to pitch it on my next community meeting

Most cities are regulated to prevent more housing being built. You should definitely read on the works of Strong Towns, and similar groups, and how you can help change the landscape of your city

Their website is great and has a ton of details https://www.strongtowns.org/

Sometimes it's not even direct violence, redlining is sufficient to keep you stuck where they want you to be

Oh, I agree that mass transit wouldn't really work in areas that aren't as dense, but we should definitely have those where possible. I didn't mean to say we don't need good car options, but we should also have more options besides just cars

Now regarding bikes and winter, I'd say that's more of an infrastructure problem. Finland also has terrible winter, yet they can bike as usual. You should watch this video if you are interested in this theme: "Why Canadians Can't Bike in the Winter (but Finnish people can)"
