It was definitely true in my experience- the general feeling was that it's very hard to prove any general rules in psychology, because there are so many factors. You want to be able to say "people are ___" but people are just way too complex.

All I remember from my psychology classes is that for every study that shows some phenomenon, there's another study that shows the opposite. That's why I switched to math.

Reminds me of a John Hodgman bit - we have ice hockey, field hockey, and air hockey, implying the existence of fire hockey.
I like how the map shows the curvature of the north border (49th parallel), meaning all these lines bulge north in the middle.
I wasn't affected by this directly, but from what I saw it was all handled extremely well - lots of notice so users could choose new instances and mods could coordinate moving communities elsewhere. Makes me optimistic for the fediverse.

I read the journals of Lewis and Clark a couple years ago. It was fucked up reading about Sacagawea's emotional reunion with her brother, now the chief of her old tribe, immediately followed by Lewis talking to the chief about how great things will be for the tribe when they open up trade with the US.
