What solution would you propose? I assume the main problem is that it supposedly limits Wikipedia's ability to ban people that would otherwise just make another account? Maybe they could limit VPN editing to accounts with 500 edits or whatever.

In any case now seems like a great time to prod them to reconsider this policy.

That's probably the easiest thing I've seen so far. Still a bit of a pain when sharing from other apps but I might give it a try.

I took a quick look and this looks promising but I'm not sure how to use the pattern checker module.

Could you please explain a little more what would be replaced?

While other countries press forward, many Silicon Valley engineers remain opposed to working on software projects that may have offensive military applications, including machine learning systems that make possible the more systematic targeting and elimination of enemies on the battlefield.
