I don't know if these filters for permanent installation have some techology to prevent this, but the smaller jug-style water filters increase bacteria growth if you don't regularly exchange them. I think for a part with such a huge internal surface that is permanently wet, this is really hard to avoid unless it has a special desinfection mechanism.

For short-term use while hiking I use water filters by Sawyer or Katadyn so far without problems. But I rinse them with chlorine and vinegar before I put them away for storage.

This seems to be

  1. a random selection of countries rather than the top ranking ones and also
  2. the numbers seem to be pretty low compared to other sources.

At least as per Wikipedia, Mexico has around 19%, Brazil /China/Taiwan 14% etc. I live in Germany and here vegetarians are typically estimated at around 10% which corresponds to the number in Wikipedia but it's not even listed in the graphic above.

Using juices instead of milk for cereals is a completely different experience but IMHO doesn't taste bad. I go with oat milk in 80% of the cases, but also use orange/pear/apple/... juice from time to time. Especially in summer, it feels lighter and more refreshing.

My longest scuba dive so far was with my girlfriend in a German lake. There was nothing super spectacular, just some sea weed and some fishes but we spent there around 2.5 hours, floating around in the shallow water and enjoying the sun from underwater. Free diving definitely has advantages - especially because it requires almost no preparation, no need to carry around heavy stuff etc. but if you enjoy being weightless and giving your brain a little rest I'd recommend you to give scuba a try. It's both great! :)

exhale enough air out my lungs to stop floating

Get yourself a weight belt for scuba diving and you can expand your ground time a bit. Get a full set of scuba equipment and you can sit there for hours (depending on depth, size of your tanks and how relaxed you are). :)

sopuli.xyz and feddit.org are also pretty decent IMO.

Thanks for the hint. Also CNN added context to their article.

The morning after Trump’s speech, the White House provided a list of $8.3 million in federal grants to health studies that involve mice receiving treatments that can be used in gender-affirming health care. The White House list made clear what Trump, in the speech, did not: The studies were meant to figure out how these treatments might affect the health of humans who take them, not for the purpose of making mice transgender.

I'm not a soldering pro but I'm really satisfied with my pinecil. To power it, I can use the existing USB-C charger of my Lenovo Laptop.

Why not just remodel existing Cheetos into a new shape? I'm pretty sure that with the right tools and some time you can cover up any marks of manipulation.

It's still +26% in 6 months, +58% in a year and +535% in 5 years. There's still a long way to go down unfortunately.
