Today in "The US Government is looking for ways to imprison political opponents":

A contractor for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and many other U.S. government agencies has developed a tool that lets analysts more easily pull a target individual’s publicly available data from a wide array of sites, social networks, apps, and services across the web at once, including Bluesky, OnlyFans, and various Meta platforms, according to a leaked list of the sites obtained by 404 Media.

The news comes after ICE detained Mahmoud Khalil, a prominent Columbia University protester and green card holding legal permanent resident of the U.S., on Saturday with the intention of deporting him. It also comes as Secretary of State Marco Rubio is reportedly launching an AI-fueled “Catch and Revoke” effort to scan the social media accounts for tens of thousands of student visa holders’ social media accounts, looking for what Axios reported as foreign nationals who appear to support Hamas or other designated terror groups.

WikiPortraits, a group of volunteer photographers, has been covering festivals and shooting celebrities specifically to improve images in the public domain.

Since last January, WikiPortraits photographers have covered around 10 global festivals and award ceremonies, and taken nearly 5,000 freely-licensed photos of celebrity attendees. And the celebrity attendees are often quite excited about it. Dixit, for example, found Jeremy Strong of Succession at a New York showing of the new The Apprentice and asked to take a new headshot of him for Wikipedia.

“His publicist said no,” Dixit said. “But Jeremy said, ‘Wait, you’re from Wikipedia? For the love of God, please take down that photo. You’d be doing me a service.’ So he stood and posed, and I got a shot of him.” Strong’s old photo was from 2014.

This article is from 2017?

TL;DW: At 4K, the RTX 5090 hits 20-50% uplifts in raster as compared to the RTX 4090, and 27-35% uplifts in RT as compared to the RTX 4090. Power efficiency is roughly equivalent to the 4090. The new dual flowthrough cooler design seems to perform exactly as advertised, providing remarkable cooling for a card that is only two slots thick.

Or just one massive signal group chat

Meta deleted nonbinary and trans themes for its Messenger app this week, around the same time that the company announced it would change its rules to allow users to declare that LGBTQ+ people are “mentally ill,” 404 Media has learned.

Aren't the best at everything *without tools. We don't got many built-in tools.

::: spoiler spoiler yeah it felt like there could have been a season 2 that ended somewhere around the Jinx prison break at the end of EP4, and then you have season 3 open with the situation of Jinx seeking out Vi to help her find Vander. Though so much happens in the story AFTER that point that idk, maybe that would be too much to crunch in. But it would have been nice to spend a season in the situation where Caitlyn is mad about her mom's death and she's on the warpath, while she and Vi are slowly fighting more and more. Would have made it hit way harder when Cait realizes she's wrong and she and Vi reunite.

so so so so so well put. I want to say that I hope the studio goes on to do more than just LoL fanfic, but it really seems like Riot themselves were very integrated into the actual storytelling of Arcane. So really I guess I'm hoping that Christian Linke and Alex Yee leave Riot to go do something more bold, if it is them that wrote the really cool story pieces that were unfortunately left to wither in Arcan. And I'm hoping that Fortiche Production gets tons of new, great projects following Arcane. Blades in the Dark animated show when?

Edit: well it sounds like Linke and Fortiche were planning on doing more LoL related projects as of earlier this year, so I guess we're cursed with more really beautiful and well-produced fan fiction. I hate our neoliberal hellscape.

I don't know the details of the other 37 inmates. But knowing our justice system, I think this is a good thing?

RA sent me into a fever dream with Pokémon Pinball on the GBA, trying to get all of the achievements that counted for the "beaten" tick on my profile. Why did I do that? Why?

Exactly my point, and I'm glad you were here to argue it better than I could. Like yeah, in normal times I don't want Biden to flaunt what the Supreme Court says, even if they are conservative. But the GOP has stopped playing by the rules, and Trump is going to break so many rules and laws over his presidency that we will wonder what "legal" even means anymore. So who cares if Biden flaunts the Supreme Court in his final month?

Would love to hear your thoughts on Arcane Season 2 in this thread! I just finished it last night.

Personally, I had a great time watching it! I've heard the sentiment that Season 2 feels like they had 3 seasons' worth of plot, which they crammed into just one because Netflix didn't want to fund it anymore, and I definitely agree with this. I think that is really my only critique of Season 2. Well...besides Imagine Dragons and 21 Pilots 🤪
