That's good to hear that they are continuing to improve the program. I think Mealie looks the best to me too.

Hmm an app would be interesting. That might make it easier for my partner. Thanks for sharing the app!

I've been leaning towards mealie because I like the UI (ar least what I've seen from static images). Thanks for sharing your experience.

I am also looking for a note/list app too so I will definitely be checking that one out.

Does anyone self-host any recipe/meal planner/shopping list software? I've been looking at Tandoor or Mealie but I am not too sure which one will best serve my needs. I would really like to be able to go through my saved recipes, easily plan out a weeks worth of meals and have that exported to a shopping list of some kind.

Most of the discussion I could find online appears to be somewhat dated (2-3 years) and I know that can be a long time for some projects. Does anyone host either if these two programs and if so, which one did you choose and why? I'm open to any other projects that may be better for my use case. It would only be used on my located network and maybe accessed via tailscale occasionally. I'm fairly new to self-hosting but this is one thing that my partner was excited about. Thanks in advance!

Every 100th page, there will be a small, "unobtrusive" ad near the bottom of the page. Just to cover rising publishing/paper costs. Then it will be every 50th page, 25th page. Then the ad will get bigger, little by little, until a full page advert is shown every few pages.

Just reinvented a magazine, I know but I could see it happening. The fact that we now have ads showing up in cars at red lights...

I certainly don't have "grow lights" which is why I think I'm having the heat issue. I am certainly in the camp of getting 80% there for a fraction of the price!

Thanks for the reply!

What lights are you using? I have a set of lights but they seem to produce way more heat than usable light? If I put the lights closer, they burn the seedlings, if I move them too far away, the seedlings get leggy.

Someone get Louis on the phone. There is another article for the Consumer Action Taskforce database waiting to be written.

Do you still actively play? I used to play a lot a few years ago. I've been debating getting back into it but I'm not sure I have the patience to relearn the combat and I'm sure those who still play are monsters at this point.

I've heard that some of them will connect to any wifi available. So if your neighbor does not have a password on their network. The tv will connect and upload the data.

Really? I've only ever used public so I had no idea. Thanks for sharing that bit of information!

The problem is that it is just poor money management. He could've been set for life. Put that into an index or S&P500 and get 10% every year. That's 70k and he wouldn't even have to work. If you took that 70k and invested back into the fund, you can double your money in about 7 years, assuming 10% returns.
