You could have totally built small scale water and wind power a few decades ago. Also solar was already viable 15 years ago and would have been cheap af if it had been scaled up to "economy of scale" levels. For example Germanies solar capacity was already at 1/5th of todays level 15 years ago. That was without any huge subsidies and the panels and feed in returns were not great either. We could have easily been at todays level in terms of solar 10-15 years ago if the lobby for it was as powerful as the coal/gas/nuclear lobby.

Imagine if we started seriously investing in battery tech at the time the combustion car was invented and hadnt stopped since. We would still have been limited by not having computers for simulation for a long time, but we could probably have gotten to the current level like 20 years ago.

But yes, the future of electricity depends entirely on eco friendly, sustainable and cheap batteries. Its just a matter of time.

I recommend Tubular (a fork of NewPipe + SponsorBlock) which is available in FDroid https://f-droid.org/packages/org.polymorphicshade.tubular/

I was going to post this quote in response. I would even go harsher in terminology. Its a war and you can either die on the bad side or desert to the good side and try to help them win.

All this talk of "you should fight back instead of fleeing" is stupid. Fighting back on the political level is what they should have done before the election.

Now that time is over for the US and the only way to internally "fight back" is militant resistance. There is no middle ground anymore. If you speak out too loud you will get disappeared so the only thing that would be worth doing is going all out from the start as hard as you can before they catch you. In other words terrorism...

I dont fault people for not being willing to do that.

Then your gravestone will say "was happy" instead, because thats what people around you remember.

The happy truth. It means that you should prioritize things that make you happy instead of subscribing to "grind" ideology.

Very cute, but try to use the direct image link so we dont have to exit the app for every post plz. Then you can also insert the image description that was on the original post which is nice to visually impaired people. The bluesky link can go into the post body if you wanna get people to your bluesky.

A blonde haired young person lies in a field of soft green grass, dappled with white fluffy dandelions. She/they wear a comfy purple quilted jacket, and blue and turquoise checkered pjs with violet wool slippers and a pointy blue wizard hat patterned with stars and moons. This is her outfit they wear while catching zs. Two braids trail out on the blue and purple checkered quilt around them. On their left lies a green backpack with a leafy flap full of books and notebooks, a leafy twig pen, a green and a black striped narrow scarf. On their right lies a hurricane lantern, the light put out. Snoozing close to them and snuggled up are their animal friends, an opossum and a skunk.
