The only question for either of the is if they have registered charity status. If so, nothing else matters.

This was far less about climate change, and more about two dams not being maintained during an elongated period of political instability. Had the dams not failed when they were topped, it would have been a case of some buildings sitting in a river bed for a day or two. Property damage, but very low risk of loss of life.

The dams failing unleased a tsunami filled with boulders that smashed buildings, gathering more debris as it went.

The rain pulled the trigger, but it was not the cause.

Taking one year in isolation I'm sure. The overall trend is up, and the frequency of energetic weather is up, but we've not hit 1.5c increase over a period longer than a year yet.

Hot years happen, and one year isn't a trend.

I'd rather have a good typing system...

So not typescript then.

I'm half joking, but the problem with typescript is that it's JavaScript with types. The industry needs to stop retrofitting types to dynamically typed languages. The type system is an intrinsic part of the language design and if you're going to have it, it should be there from day 1. Being dynamically typed wasn't a language bug. It is a feature designed for a certain class of problem. I'm sure 90% of proponents only want it so they get better completion in their IDE, but I personally think it makes a lot of code far more difficult to read.

Still, they don't recommend repealing it. They said that more forms of ID need to be accepted.

Morons!

As someone who remembers the effect of crashing out of European fiscal union (I was just start university), the prospect of not having fiscal independence worries me. We tried before and it didn't work. It's the one aspect of the EU I am against (of any substance). The situation we had before was a good one IMHO, but I doubt we can get that back now.

If we can build some bridges, get back the joint ventures and co-operations, then maybe we can get 80-90% of the damage of Brexit mitigated. I'm so angry that we left, but if the road back in means fiscal union then I'm not sure it's worth it.

... and will call for changes, including the acceptance of a greater range of ID documents.
