Bad teammates? (self.rocketleague)

Okay, help me out. I've been as high ranked as Champ 2 in duos but recently I can barely make it out of Platinum 3. Whenever I have a teammate who scores as many points as me or higher we win every time, usually it's not even close. But so often I have teammates who can barely get 100 points. Missing hits, can't rotate, can't defend. I will get a good teammate one out of every five matches or so, and then the rest can barely hit the ball. Is this par for the course or am I doing something wrong?

Not that I'm asking, I just think its funny the game jams all this stuff in my face when its so irrelevant. The only thing I've ever bought was a fennec body and I literally couldn't buy it from psyonox, I had to get it from a trader.

I'll be creating one for GifYourGame, too.

post party causes the game to lockup which makes people ff. disable post part and get your game back. it’s not your video card drivers, it’s post party. post party is hot garbage.

stop ffing your matches early. disable post party and enjoy the game!

I recently reinstalled RL after not playing for 2 years, running Linux for my gaming pc these days. Almost every time I open up steam, there's a multi gigabyte rocket league update. Is that normal? Can I play without updating every time?

I run a stupid setup, for sure. intel arc graphics card, windows 10 under a vm (with passthrough). The game runs pretty well for the most part, but every other intel GPU update curses the game - I lose connection and crash 2-3 minutes into a match. Sometimes an update to the drivers would fix it, but another update would break it. When it was working OK I noticed midway through the game my FPS would jump down to 0 for a couple seconds and I will see “clipping is not available at this time” despite me not hitting any buttons to trigger this.

well, my most recent driver update makes rocket league crash each game so I disconnected post party. without even closing the game and reopening, suddenly the issue was gone. all matches play normally now.

I see lots of folks losing connection midway through a match so I hope this helps.

postparty is hot garbage.

There's only a week or so left! If anybody wants to party up to try to climb just a little further, DM me. I think I'm Diamond 1 in 2s and plat 2 or 3 in 3s, but with a teammate who meshes with me I can do much better.

Everybody well above or well below my rank, put your rank down so others can try to find a buddy or two as well.

With player trading coming to an end, I guess this could also be a last call for trades.

Hello everyone, I’m relatively new to Rocket League, with only about 500 hours played so far… In 2s, I’m currently ranked Diamond 2, and I can’t seem to progress any further… Recently, I read a report that 1s might help with that. So, here’s my very first ranked 1v1 match! Do you have any tips on where I need to improve to finally reach Champion?

"Get ready to leave the virtual world behind, because your analog FPV Rocket League is about to zoom into action, turning your living room into a racetrack of riotous revelry! Who needs digital copies when you can have a rocket-powered extravaganza taking up space, time, and your neighbor's attention, all while making your cat question its life choices?"

I wonder if others also have this feeling that during evenings smurfs are more prominent.

I’m silver 3 for some time and when I play during lunchtime I win all the games. Not super easily but I win them. Then I go up in ranking and in the evening when I play again I see a drastic increase of skill in my opponents. Which makes me barely win or loose and then I go down again few slots.

I have to say it’s quite annoying and I consider not playing competitive any more during late hours to finally be able to jump to gold.

Title. Would have looked cooler further away from goal. It seems like maybe just a scoop shot that was really fast? Donno if it could technically be a flick?

It's the last weekend of the season. Anybody looking to go for broke in ranked to see what's possible with fewer inhibitions?

I'm on PS5 in NoVA and bouncing around low Diamond. If you rotate properly, I'll forgive every whiff.

Whether it's a club name, club tag, or tournament name, what are some interesting names you've used or seen?

My friends and I recently played a tournament and somehow won with the name Socialist Jiu Jitsu. Our club name is Aunt Tifa. We used the club tag [BLM] for a while, but the amount of racism in the text chat was exhausting, so now it's just [ANTI]. It was pretty entertaining to get people tilted and then silently dunk on them, but the toxicity wasn't fun most of the time.

So the 2 guys I usually play with are champ2 and dia3-champ1 level. I'm also champ1. NONE of us were ever in GC, not for a single match. We play 2v2s and 3v3s, depending on who's available.

This season we got absurd amount of GCs in our matches. Both 2v2 and 3v3, but 3v3 seemed even more infested with GC titles. Interestingly, whenever they actually say something about their rank, they say they are GCs in another game mode, or that they played a long time ago. But most of them still do stuff that we have never been able to, and the rest is just as bad as us, or even worse (which isn't too rare). But this many "GC in another mode" players, suddenly, out of thin air?

What happened suddenly?

Before this season, seeing a GC title in our games was definitely a rarity. We saw ~2-3 every season, and that was pretty much it. Whenever we ran into one before, they actually played like a GC and they hard carried their suspiciously clueless teammates. This season GC matches are more abundant than the ones without.

Is it because the player numbers are falling so hard that Psyonix resorted to widening the matchmaking search, allowing significantly better (or worse) players to match against us, just to keep the waiting times low? Now that I think of it, as many GCs we get against us, we definitely don't see just as many clueless opponents. If it's not the waiting time, then why did matchmaking change so drastically? Is it boosting? Because that didn't just happen overnight between the two seasons.

What do you think?

EDIT: People starting ranked at a lower rank than what they had in the previous season also can't be the reason, since we would also be somewhere in low diamond then; it's the middle of the season, so I doubt THIS many people whould start their freshly deranked season now.

I have somewhere between 1500-2000 hours in the game, never worked hard on air rolling but as I cracked C3 and hit GC1 briefly I realized I needed to rededicate myself to learning this or there was no point to grinding ranked.

So I had a basic understanding of air rolling, and as I said I sort of practiced it here and there over the past couple years but the thing that always stopped me was how incredibly hard and confusing it is. It’s very easy to get deflated when you don’t see basically any gradual progress like you would with, say, a moderately difficult training pack.

Air rolling just isn’t something our brains are wired to naturally do. So you have to brute force it. I think much better workshops could be designed around this. Rings maps are not a good way to learn this mech AT ALL. Rings maps are for people who can already air roll.

I have zero skills to make something like this, nor do I have the time really, but a rings training wherethe first level is one gigantic ring about ten times the size of Leth’s rings. You just have to air roll up to it at a 45 degree angle. Second level adds a second ring a ways behind the first, so now you just have to stay level. Third level third ring drops down a bit. And so on. Eventually maybe after the first 20 levels the rings shrink a bit. Then again after 20 more levels. And so on.

That way you can actually see your progress. If you don’t know how to air roll at all, and it takes you awhile to get past the first few levels, then a week or two later you can get to level 15 or whatever, that’s helpful. Leths ring map is cool but it didn’t teach me shit except that I started playing this game about 6 years too late. The speed trials are much better, speed trials 1 is how I brute force taught myself. But touching a single pixel of a wall and immediately dying is also NOT helpful.

Anyway, how many hours in the game do you have, what rank are you, and how proficient are you at air rolling?

Because I don't get it. I see this word a lot when I derank and the players that use it are usually trash.

So now that the teams going to the finals are confirmed: who on here is going to Düsseldorf (from where) and who are you cheering for?

I know they did a fat deranked at the beginning of the season but even after that it feels different. For the past year and a half I’ve been champ 1 and up in champ 2. Now I’m diamond 3 and I feel like I’m facing high D1 players and champ 1 feels like C2 players.

I don’t mind at all idc about rank but it’s just something I’ve noticed and wondering if anyone has also? Maybe I’m just playing shitty idk but D2/D3 before was very toxic with a mix of terrible and amazing people but it’s been very consistent now

r/rocketleague made a decision very early on that highlights would be allowed every day as regular posts. Subsequently, the sub turned into a giant highlight reel. Sure there were a couple of posts here and there on patches, RLCS, rare items, etc. But seeing highlight after highlight really killed the community discussions.

Making a request to the mods that highlights become a sticky-only or one-day-a-week thing as opposed to the core focus of the community.

If everyone at higher ranks has it figured out what’s the point? Like I can understand when someone doesn’t do it but what’s the difference than doing a normal one if people have it down to a science

So when this season first started everyone in 2s was butthurt since their egos got smashed but once they fixed that it has been pretty good for me. I have been able to work my way back up to champ with minimal toxicity.

But, the toxicity that does occur is people just leaving. Like when 45 seconds of game clock of the game starting. A lot of the time my teammate gets a shitty kickoff and it’s one of those that bounces off the wall and goes into your goal that is very hard to defend.

Teammate immediately leaves. That’s what I have been experiencing more of. I haven’t had too many issues with chat toxicity, in fact it’s actually been good. But the leaving part is more active which is weird
