The SDG&E Community Tree Rebate Program for Residential Customers enables qualifying residential customers throughout the region to plant trees and other plant species to help provide direct environmental, health, and economic benefits. This program is designed for customers in parts of SDG&E’s service territory where trees may be needed to help make a positive impact in their community.

There are lot of views in San Diego, and many of them show the changes of the built environment. This view hasn't changed in hundreds of years. Photo by @[email protected]

Go wild.

I put one up already, but if anyone has a better idea I'm all ears.

Lions at the SD Zoo on Monday. They're either sleeping, eating, or bellowing. Exactly like my cat, but scaled up.

Took this while biking around for fun on my e-bike; actually quite impressed at the quality of bike lane over the bridge. Looks new: https://www.sandiego.gov/cip/projectinfo/featuredprojects/bridge-replacement

A lot of people I know tend to discount the possibility of getting around the city without a car, and it's certainly still janky, but it's really cool to see new infrastructure going in for pedestrians/cyclists. It's honestly surprised me how doable it is to get to different parts of the city with an e-bike. Very cool to see!

Definitely recommend people cruise through if they've got an e-bike / are confident enough on a regular bike to deal with some of the janky traffic around the bridge.

Made a new place for the flag. Ready for the 4th... . Now if I can only find a parking place in front of my place. That's P.B. on the 4th of July.

I'm scrambling to subscribe to interesting RSS feeds to fill the (welcome) void Reddit has left for me. I came across this gem on the San Diego Reader's photo feed (https://www.sandiegoreader.com/rss/photos/) this morning and it is delicious.

I'm planning to move to SD in the next month. I'm looking at apartments, and unfortunately will not have much of a chance to scope them out in person prior to signing. I've been testing commute times in Google Maps beginning at 8:30am from apartments to work, mostly including going northbound along I-5 from near downtown SD to the outskirts. The times its estimating seem ridiculously fast, 16-26 minutes to go 15-20 miles during rush hour. Is this correct? Is it because most commuters are going the opposite direction?

No big plans for the actual weekend yet. Anyone happen to know how crowded Balboa Park is these days?

Probably Julian for the 4th of July parade at noonish, then fireworks back home in Esco.

There was no way we were going to use the city-issued small organic green container for indoor use. It was too small, had perforations on the top, and they suggested you bring it into your kitchen! No thanks. We got a bigger container, with a solid seal, and it lives outside. :: I think the organic waste recycle program should be called the San Diego Rat Development program.

Was over at reddit.com/r/sandiego. It was business as usual. Despite my outrage at the situation with Reddit higher ups and the mods, I realize that the average schlub barely knows, and likely doesn't give a rat's eyelash. I want the Fediverse to succeed, but I know it's going to be a long haul...

The infinite wisdom of the City of San Diego... . I'm in PB and the apartments next door finally got their Green containers. Why in the name of Zeus did the city drop four small containers, instead of just one big greeny? Four containers means 4x as much maintenance to keep them clean; 4x as much effort for the truck guy to dump them; 4x as much opportunity for a container to get damaged during its rough life. Dumb move, my great city. I've seen this in many places in the neighborhood. Anybody have any insight into this wisdom that I can't understand?

I've been looking for the communities I'm missing from that other site, and /sandiego is one of them. It seems that for now there are very few geographic location related communities. It's nice to have for people to ask all kinds of questions, from new comers to looking for types of restaurants to mentions of festivals...

Best burrito place in north county?
