If a man does anything that's not approved by the strict regulation of the council of his male friends then they are gay. Its simple, there is no need to over complicate it by introducing sex.
My friends said it's only gay if our balls touch.
That is the standard definition.
Well there's also keeping your socks on, not making eye contact or saying "no homo" just afterwards too. So I'd say that there's no "standard definition" but many variants.
