have you seen the film "children of men"? it's probably the most accurate prediction of the world in the (now not so distant) future. it also has one of the best single-shot scenes of all time.

that's definitely a great film, haven't seen it since it came out but it does live in my head over there with the Alex Jones level shit. it comes up a lot on knowledge fight with movies like Elysium

should i watch Elysium again? i can't remember anything about it, and i don't recall it being very good when i was younger

really well done movie, technically, and i hated it. ultra violence plus some more. I really like some post-apocalyptic nightmare horror, and that's it, still didn't like it.

edit same guy did District 9, and that movie really nailed it in the same genre

It's not great, but I always think of it whenever I see a billionaire running their own private space program.

Such a good movie. Enjoyable as a book too. The only problem I had with the movie was some of the shaky cam work.

I wonder sometimes whether reality will get disturbingly close to parts of that movie. Climate refugees are going to become more common. Tensions are already high. Tension often ratchets up racism and fascism. The brutality toward immigrants is already present in many places, and seems to be worsening. The loss of fertility in the real world is technically present, though nowhere near universal.

The movie was good, but not 'I want to live in it' good.
