Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to [email protected]

  6. This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

  7. No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

Focusing on nothing but voting enables neoliberalism in promoting fascism.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Well I’m right behind you bud. I’ll vote AND you let me know what you wanna do.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Vote if you want. But don't waste too much time doing so and join a political org.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Good news for you, voting only takes one day.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But that's not counting this time we're spending on it right now.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wow, good point. Maybe posts like this that pointlessly create drama by attacking people who vote are part of the problem.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

First, mind the community. Can't help that it ended up in /all. Second, would that point have gotten across to you without the post? So it wasn't really pointless.

Maybe it's the over-the-top defensiveness that is the problem, rather than a post in an anarchist community presenting a point of view that made some people react in that way.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I was being funny when I said they made a good point, I already knew that anarchist infighting over whether to vote is pointless and that certain anarchists claiming their political disengagement as representative of anarchism is toxic.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You're nothing bqt strawmanning anarchists.

Anarchists don't care if you vote or not. The problem starts when electoralism binds resources, e.g. when politically motivated people help out an electoral campaign by canvasing.

anarchists claiming their political disengagement

Equating political engagement with electoralism is the actual toxic thing.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Me representing my own anarchist views isn't strawmanning, even if they're different than yours. And I will repeat myself: claiming your views as the only legitimate form of anarchism is a toxic form of infighting.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The strawman was that anarchists supposedly care if you vote or not.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Of course not all anarchists vote, but those of us who are most committed to doing all we can, care about voting. We recognise that it's incredibly easy compared to arrestable actions, so it has a very good effort to effect efficiency. Those of us who believe in doing everything in our power are inclined to treat people who don't bother voting with suspicion, since it's so easy and it could have prevented the impending trans genocide if enough people had done it.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Do you think you're innocent?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Cute.

By assuring the Harris campaign that you would vote for her no matter what, her campaign decided to ignore the uncommitted movement. You and the other blue-no-matter-whos made it impossible for us to pressure her to distance herself from Biden's genocide.

You are the reason Harris continued to support Biden's unpopular genocide, and the reason she lost. If people like you had helped us she would have campaigned differently, and won.

You don't get to wash your hands of that. You undermined the only power we have as voters to pressure candidates.

And you always will. You'll do it next time when they nominate Liz Cheney to run against Trump's third term.

Stop taking away our power to pressure Democrats.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Oh yeah, Kamala "follow the law" Harris was going to do fuckall for trans people when the right came after them anyways

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

When someone tells me they're only motivated by things getting better; by hope, what I learn is that they have not in their life needed to learn fear. Things have not gotten so bad that they have learned to fear being attacked. They are detached enough from consequences that they think nothing getting better is the worst that could possibly happen to them. It's a privilege I envy.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

What part of "the right coming after them anyways" sounds like things getting better to you??? Get the fuck off your self righteous high horse, being ruled by fear to the point of paralysis is not a fucking virtue.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The United States has some of the longest election cycles, maybe in the world, but definitely among western liberal democracies.

So yes, the literal act itself takes a day. But everything surrounding that day is taken up by planning for the next election, enough robs people of other kinds of political engagement, by being such a massive time and energy sink.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

It's your choice whether you want to campaign for a candidate.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They want to kill anybody who disagrees with installing an autocrat who promises to redistribute wealth via execution.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Veryeanarchist stance /s

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

We can only ever have one message. Classic and so true /s

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Electoralism doesn't change shit and binds resources.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The amount of simping for electoralist politics in an anarchist sub is truly depressing.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Voting changes things. See: every election that wasn't rigged. Maybe some that were.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ok, my bad: it doesn't change shit in your favour.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

You assume everyone is like you and wanted trump to win, apparently

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Electoralism doesn’t change shit and binds resources.

Jesus fucking Christ.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Look, it's PugJesus being angry at the anarchists in the anarchist com! Go figure. /s

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Sorry that I'm angry that marginalized groups are going to die in the literal millions because you thought that spiritualist roleplay was more important than harm reduction.

I know, after all, that no anarchist has ever been in support of harm reduction through electoral participation. /s

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Yes, it was me. I didn't vote In the US elections and that's why Trump is back in power.

I know, after all, that no anarchist has ever been in support of harm reduction through electoral participation.

Strawman much? I said electoralism.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes, it was me. I didn’t vote In the US elections and that’s why Trump is back in power.

"I was only one person" is the exact kind of stupid nonsense fascists and monarchists tell themselves to allow them to go along with the ruling caste without making the merest fuss about it.

A third of the fucking country didn't vote. Trump won by just over a percentage point - that is to say, less than a percentage point of eligible voters.

Do you not see why shitting on electoral participation is a problem, in light of that? Do you not see how it helps fascism?

Voting won't create an anarchist utopia. Voting alone won't even create a non-fucked democracy. But not voting will absolutely lead to a immeasurably more fucked government in power.

Strawman much? I said electoralism.

Yet all your comments target electoral participation.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"I was only one person"

I'm not eligible to vote in the US due to not being an American.

Do you not see why shitting on electoral participation is a problem, in light of that? Do you not see how it helps fascism?

Sure, it was due to leftists not condoning genocide that Trump won. Didn't know they were so strong in the US. /S

Yet all your comments target electoral participation

Sure /s
