American citizens should be avoiding the USA at this point as well. No-one is safe.

I'm an American citizen and I got out. Absolutely zero regrets. Apparently it's rapidly becoming increasingly common

Where did you go, if you don’t mind sharing? What was the process like?

I am using my position to help my local community back home :)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago

Please return.

Or at the very least, stop being American.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 5 days ago

No-one is safe.

Not until we make the police and ICE agents feel unsafe.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 5 days ago (7 children)

No, we don't want American citizens anywhere else in the world, leave them in their containment nation.

They chose, overwhelmingly, the circumstances that they're in.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Dude, fuck you. I didn't choose this shit anymore than you did.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago

Inaction is a choice

[–] [email protected] 35 points 5 days ago (2 children)

They did not choose overwhelmingly. ~30% chose. And even then, trump did not win the majority of the vote.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 5 days ago (1 children)

a third of the country voted for this, another third decided not to vote and thus allowed this.

I'd say 30% are all for what's happening and 10% are convinced the dems will put babies into to blenders and will always vote red. The remaining 10% switch their vote back and forth depending on how they feel about the economy. If they think it's good the will vote for the incumbent, if they think it's bad they vote for the other canidate. Then there are 2-3% of people that pick a random issue as their focus every year

Many of us are looking on in horror of what is happening. There is nothing we can do, lest we too be jailed, or worse, killed by the gestapo. Just waiting for them to come for me next. I really need to get a passport.

Just giving a bit of perspective. Fuck the United States.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 5 days ago

I guess us LGBTQ and black/brown Americans should just put a bullet in our heads right now, then.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Upvoted bc "containment nation" made me lol. I get the downvotes though, liberalism has been eroding our rights and our will to rebel for a couple of generations now.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

How are we better than them then!?! We should be better than them!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

It's true but they hate you for it. The US is lost for the next few decades.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

Not even Elon Musk himself apparently.

We can take a few american refugees, but we should limit it to the same measly numbers that the US has been accepting. That would be 50 000 per year.

Over a few millenia we could probably provide refuge for the vulnerable populations in the USA.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Americans hardly qualify as "refugees", please don't insult those who are.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

Not yet. Not most of them.
