For things that are "hmmm".

Rule 1: All post titles except for meta posts should be just plain "hmmm" and nothing else, no emotes, no capitalisation, no extending it to "hmmmm" etc.

It's highly unusual to have a Sony PSP as an in-car navigation aid.

This is a PlayStation Portable (PSP) gaming console, not a sat nav device.

What I'm not sure about is: this isn't a game I've seen before. I don't know if the screen is showing an image, a game or some sort of genuine hack to make this into a satnav device.

Apparently there really was a GPS receiver for the PSP.

I didn't know this until I looked, but check out the dingus sticking out of the top of the machine. It's totally one of these.

I have like three different OG PSP models kicking around on my Board o' Handhelds. Now I might have to pick one of those receivers up just for the yuks.

The map it shows definitely matches the view through the window

I've never seen a PSP before (not a gamer). Thanks!

It released in 2005 or so and has been less popular than the competing Nintendo DS, so it's not like it's a commonly known handheld nowadays. I still have mine but sadly it has some issue where multiple pixel columns of the screen are getting swapped around, I really liked that little thingy :(

I mean it was pretty damn popular from what I remember. Lifetime sales for the PSP is over 82 million (not counting PS Vita sales), the DS is another pretty common handheld of the time, sold 154 million across four versions (DS Lite counted for around 93 million of them).

Checking the wiki shows it as the 11th most sold console of all time (PS2 still holds that spot for now).
