We can't criticize the Democrats now?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Up to you. Do you think it'll help us win?

See, I write to them. I call them. I influence them. You, you're influencing voters. Is that a winning strategy?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 days ago

Voters vote in primaries too you know. Biden beat Bernie almost entirely on a myth that he was the most electable. That shit has to go, and Rachel Maddow and Chris Cuomo aren't going to do that for us.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Who's "us"? We're against the uniparty. Not in favor of it.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

Good thing the idea of a "uniparty" is fucking idiotic and not even remotely close to correct and is just a pathetic excuse for Republicans who don't want to admit that they're in favor of everything going on.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Until we have ranked choice, "us" is the anti Republican contingent.

You never vote FOR a candidate in a first past the post election. You vote AGAINST who you hate most. And not voting counts as a vote for who you hate most because it lowers their bar to win. It's unfortunately how the math works out.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

I hate Democrats most because they block any meaningful progress to an alternative. What does that mean?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago (2 children)

It means you're bad at strategy and privileged enough to not be too harmed by Republican policies.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

The democrats failing to block Republicans and running on dogshit policy that helps nobody got us here. You have to be pretty fucking awful to lose to Donald fucking trump twice.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

Yep! It's their fault. They failed to vote.

Also, they were dressed to sexily, so of course this happened.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nobody is going to take strategy advice from ride or die Democrats, mate, you are the world champions of losing elections

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I haven't been s Democrat in decades. I also understand how first past the post works.

The current situation sucks, but we're stuck in it. Provide an alternative strategy that doesn't rely on hopes and dreams, and I'm in.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Mate, your strategy is literally "do not criticize the party!"

You're on no position to accuse other people of relying on hopes and dreams.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What is the purpose of criticizing them online to each other?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What is the purpose of demanding to people online that they don't criticize The Party?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

To try and get everyone pulling the same direction so we don't lose again, and to get people to understand that FPTP is not about voting FOR a good candidate. It's about voting AGAINST the bad.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You really are a champion at missing the point

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Why thank you! It's good to be recognized as successful in my field.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well at least you're honest about being a troll

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nah, it's just that when a conversation devolves into personal insults I know that I'm correct and the other person has given up.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Funny, I know I'm correct and the other person has given up when they start deliberately playing dumb and pretending to miss the point

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's ok to not understand. But if you get a free moment, go back and re read the thread. I'll summarize.

FPTP means you vote AGAINST who you hate more, not FOR a candidate. Failing to vote is a vote for the worst candidate. Nit picking problems of politicians who are mostly good is counter productive, especially when we have literal Satan and his hoard of demons running the country. Focus where you spend your time. Focus on fixing the worst parts.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ok. Thanks for that non-sequitor. Maybe you should read back so you can remind yourself that the conversation was about you demanding nobody Criticize The Party, not about voting. But you're to busy being a smug loser to do that.

literal Satan and his hoard of demons running the country.

Deeply unserious person.

Focus where you spend your time. Focus on fixing the worst parts.

So you focus on antagonizing leftists online.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And why would people go out and vote if we've spent our time highlighting how our candidate options suck?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Why would people go out and vote when they see that you're a bunch of DNC fanatical zealots who won't even entertain criticism and demand unquestioning loyalty?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Because they aren't idiots and understand FPTP and harm reduction.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 18 hours ago

Then why do they need to be prevented from seeing any criticism of the party?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I influence them.

Lol. Someone has a self inflated sense of themselves

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

No raindrop thinks itself responsible for the flood.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Lol, nice. Which anime did you get that line from?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

Dunno. Life somewhere :-)

But it's true. We're hyper-individualized and have forgotten what it's like to move together. We press a button, and nothing happens, so we assume it's useless. We have stopped thinking about acting together as a community, and all pressing the button together to have an effect.

And we've also forgotten that, in order to be a community and wield that power, you have to accept that some people disagree with you on some topics. It's how the right keeps winning.

But one thing we can't disagree on, is how first past the post works. You never vote FOR a candidate you like. You're always voting AGAINST the worst candidate.
