A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

As it turns out, the article is a gift from Murdoch: https://www.axios.com/2025/07/18/trump-epstein-letter-maga-documents
Just outrageous and questionable enough for MAGA to use as cover, and Trump to turn into a lighting rod. But it doesn't change much for anyone else. Before, MAGA Media had nothing to point to and paint Trump as the victim. Now, they do.
It derailed the schism :/
Other media's lapping it up to tell readers want they want to hear: MAGA is infighting, when in reality they are not.
Yeah. The narrative on the right has been changing ever since this came out. I wouldn't be that surprised if that was the point of the whole thing.
can you show me some examples of this not being the case? i am wondering where to look for an actual analysis on how MAGA is handling this letter, because i have seen several real world responses from his supporters that are extremely upset and feel betrayed. you're saying this isn't a sizeable group within his base? interesting.
The above article quotes and sources major influencers, but if that's not enough, go to the source:

Not sure what you've seen. But to be blunt, a few clipped Twitter screenshots or clickbait headlines filtering to Lemmy's front page don't paint a good picture. This place is a bubble... Like most of the internet. Twitter is, too, as its algo just shows you want you want to see, not a fair "slice" of activity.
..no, i said real world examples lol. like a town hall meeting where people loudly booed Trump and it was a meeting specifically for his crowd.
edit: this here - i can't find a good clip that is just the event itself, sorry. searching nowadays is garbage but it is out there. this will give you an idea of what i'm talking about. there are more examples.
Influencers are a good bellwater, they're the heart of the MAGA movement. They go where their viewers want, which is (for now) attacking the WSJ and defending Trump.
/r/conservative is still total Trump too: https://www.reddit.com/r/Conservative/
I don't know of any grassroots uprisings against Trump. Surveys will take weeks to percolate out, but the lack of documented rebellion kinda suggests voters aren't turning on him in person, either.
check the edit in my comment. i don't know about a documented uprising or anything but people are vocally expressing disapproval and some are rather upset. trump almost got assassinated by a disillusioned conservative. these people are dangerous and unhinged even against themselves.
That was a week ago, heh. Now the narrative is flipped.
Look through recent comments here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Conservative/comments/1m0qcp0/congress_has_voted_to_deny_the_amendment_to_the/
There are quite a few dissenters, but also tons of:
And the mega influencers are going to keep skewing this in Trump's favor, now that they found a way.
ah see, thanks. i need to catch up then. i was hoping to be wrong about the direction of their reactions but you are pointing out my worries coming true. "idk i'm seeing some vicious anger that appears to imply their focus on pedophilia overrides their allegiance to Trump," i thought. lol. welp. i guess we'll see but now i'm back to where i was.
Hopefully this doesn't just get dismissed and we get some nice information in discovery.
Based on the last few cases, The WSJ will cave and settle with Trump for a ridiculous amount of money in order to stay on his "good" side.
