Please refrain from claiming names that you have no real interest in. Moderation should be based on your passion for a genre or model, not on just "collecting" communities as souvenirs.

Otoh, imo, moderating a community to keep it out of the hands of spammers (they will come to Lemmy soon enough), squatters and bad actors is a legitimate reason.

How would you handle the handoff to someone who is passionate about it if you claimed it for the second reason, or if you made it because it didn't exist yet and you wanted to make the space for others to post in but are not in a position to actually moderate?
