In the EU, there's now more women finishing higher education, and going into research programs, than men. (1)

Education in general is quite fucked up for boys, but they are not a protected group so we let them suffer.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 months ago (1 children)

What protections would you like to see for men?

[–] [email protected] 31 points 3 months ago (1 children)

For education specifically, here's an APA article discussing the problem with a US context, but I have seen the same patterns across other Western education as well.

https://www.apa.org/monitor/2023/04/boys-school-challenges-recommendations

Simply put, sit-and-listen education disadvantages boys, who also tend to receive more severe punishment than girls for the same behaviours. Add on to that gender stereotypes push boys to be dominant, and doing well at school is not cool for boys.

In general, there are a lot of issues we are simply blind to regarding men. Men are treated as disposable, always potential combatants in a war, never the victim and always the perpetrator of domestic violence and violent crime in general.

I like this. But while the study is sex specific, fixing this would benefit boys and girls.

Humans weren't meant to sit in a chair and be talked at.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

Well damn. If it helps both I don't wanna do it anymore.

It’s sadly creating a class of alienated working class men because the working class men don’t want to accept non-traditional relationship roles.

There's also a strange cultural phenomenon, that whenever a statistic is not in favour for women, it's concluded to be a sign of systemic injustice, and corrective action must be taken. Whenever a statistic is not in favour of men, it's concluded men are a problem.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Maybe that's because the patriarchy favours men.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Maybe that’s because the patriarchy favours a minority of men.

Go read The Will to Change, then come back and tell me that the majority of men are having a grand time.

You're picturing the men at the top, which are few. The majority suffer.

Here in the UK (and I imagine it's similar across the rest of Europe), the most disadvantaged group in education are white, working class boys.

But this doesn't fit the "privilege" narrative so no one gives a shit.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Nothing logical fits your terf agenda but you push it anyway

Edit: go back in their history far enough, you'll find it

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

...eh? Who mentioned trans?

It's a fact that white, working class boys are being left behind by the system: https://committees.parliament.uk/committee/203/education-committee/news/156024/forgotten-white-workingclass-pupils-let-down-by-decades-of-neglect-mps-say/

There's no agenda here.

And here you are making no meaningful contribution to this discussion.

I love completely self unaware comments like this

Are you mad because you are also a bigot?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Bigot unwilling to respect pronouns calling others a bigot. It’s easy to see you have nothing but personal attacks to contribute.

You should probably take a break from the internet.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Weird, a terf simp not making sense!?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Mmhm. The men at the top are the ones to blame when a statistic isn't in favour of men. Like suicide rates. The men at the top are getting so many men killed.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Maybe them being men is not their defining feature. And they simply love you blaming all men instead of them specifically.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Drag didn't say all men. It seems like you added that part.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Okay, but you still refer to them as "men", instead of focusing on any other feature, thus placing the blame on "men".

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That's because we were having a conversation about men. Drag wouldn't have said men if we weren't talking about men causing problems.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

The fact is that there are not just men but only rich people at the top. My education was fucked up by a group of almost exclusively women.

But again, let's play gender war, those at the top haven't stolen enough.

[–] [email protected] 42 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I think the last part of your sentence is a little one-sided. It takes two to form a relationship and women can be just as non accepting of non traditional relationships as men.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 months ago

I guess that’s fair

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

Yes, women can also suffer from toxic masculinity.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

But the structural inequalities and sexism????

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Don't worry, men will go in the corporate world and make more money than women professors.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, most men won't. Only the soulless assholes will.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

😢 Soul-having (what's the opposite of soulless?) people will just be forced to work in the corporate world without making more money...
