It's fucking gross.

The smell, the taste, the sound it makes when people scoop big globs of it. And fuck "chefs" who try to church it up and call it aioli to put it on everything.

Your "secret sauce" isn't a fucking secret it's fucking mayo and go fuck yourself I don't want it.

I get why people don't like it, but when I scroll lemmy and see a post which looks like it has a decent level of engagements I'm finding an endless stream of replies that are always the same.

"Is this ai?" "Looks like it might be ai" "Ai slop" "This is ai, look at the [feature]"

Communities should set a rule to allow ai or not. Allowing ai but it must be declared could be a decent approach.

If there isn't a rule in the community that prohibits ai, I really wish people would cool it.

Disclaimer I'm not white nor do I agree with their ideology

Here is the reason why, they are actively taking themselves out of society and creating their own commune, so why the fuck would we want to stop all the anti democracy white supremacists from leaving society and forming their own?

I genuinly think it would be better for the country as a whole for them to be left alone and self sufficient as long as they aren't using public utilities and infrasture and aren't imposing themselves on others let them have their White Christian Nationalist settlement away from the rest of US.

Literally the trash taking its self out.

Bitcoin wastes a lot of energy. I agree. It is basically a mechanism to turn energy into something analogous to money.

However, people do not generally live where there is a lot of potential to generate green energy. Wind, solar, geothermal, nuclear all generally work best far away from heavily populated areas (this is not always the case). Additionally, wind + solar are highly variable.

Per unit of energy renewable energy will always be more cost effective than fossil fuels in the long run, but there is a high fixed cost at present.

The more sources that can consume energy in remote areas the more incentives there are to build renewable energy sources.

Thus cryptocurrencies like bitcoin are a net positive for building green energy sources in the long term.

Ketchup is GOATed. Very well-balanced flavor wise, it contains elements of sweet, salty, sour, and savory. This is what makes it so popular and why it pairs so well with so many foods.

Of course, there are varieties and brands that are made with substandard ingredients such as HFCS. But this is an exception and not the rule; I recommend something like Simply Heinz which is made with cane sugar and has a much less cloyingly sweet flavor. There are also fancier brands if you like, but honestly I think Heinz is the gold standard.

As a Chicagoan you also won't catch me putting it on a Chicago-style hot dog, since that has a delicate balance of flavors that is thrown off and overshadowed by the ketchup. But I'm not gonna throw a fit over anyone who does, and I will most definitely throw some ketchup and mustard on a dog that has not been dragged through the garden.

Back story For those of you unaware, Long Island Auditor is a "First Amendment Frauditor" who goes around to different government institutions mostly Police and Sheriff departments and tries to act suspicious and cause a scene then when confronted claim "I'm an independent journalist exercising m7 first amendment rights"

Months prior to the incident he got into an altercation with a Connecticut state trooper, which is important information.

Incident On July 11th Long Island Auditor decided to find and go to that specific Troopers house and "ask him questions about overtime" when he arrives, the Trooper opens the door and yells at him to get the fuck off his property.

He starts slowly walking backwards still recording when the trooper goes back in to grab his firearm and gets in his face yelling at him to never step foot on his property again (reminder this clown lives in NYC and made a 3 state trip to go bother the trooper) then as Long Island Audit keeps running his mouth the trooper bumps him and spits in his face.

Then the Frauditor keeps crying about it and pretending like he didn't just go to this troopers house with the sole intention of harassing him.

The local police arrive and he starts trying to get the trooper arrested. He instead is the one arrested with his camera man and they spend 5-6 hours in jail charged with voyeurism, breaching the peace and criminal tresspass. Which requires you to have a "license" to enter a place that isn't open to the public which obviously when you get into a fight with someone it means they aren't going to welcome you to their home as a stranger.

Current events

He's made several videos trying to get the Trooper charged, asking for GoFundMe legal fees and crying about the fact that he now faces real jail time. He had to pay a combined 125K dollars in bail money.

In closing People who try to make a living off of lawsuits by going around instigating people and harassing people deserve whatever consequences come their way. The Auditor community is 99% frauds just looking to get rich off of your tax payer money.

The world hates pedophiles, a great deal of people I know think that they deserve to die in jail.

So why is everyone so upset that Epstein was killed in jail by the government?

I think he deserved it. That's my opinion

So I noticed legion was avialable on one of my freebie things and I don't rewatch stuff much but I was like. Yeah I liked that and gonna watch it again. Am liking it on a second rewatch and love the trippy way its done so I wonder how other people felt and looked at its rotten tomatoes rating. Wow. So realizing how unpopular it is I decided I would post my opinion here. I love it. My only issue with it is the body swap power seems to work inconsistantly.

EDITED - Figure I should edit this. So it turns out I was looking at the rotten tomatoes for the legion movie. Which I actually saw and feel is better than the 20% its rated I don't have the strong feelings of how good it is as I am for the legion marvel series. So I now see the marvel series has great reviews and based on feedback here I realize it is not an unpopular opinion.

Either make me create a password and then let me into my account or let me use my phone number/email to verify. It's becoming too much to get into every day stuff. If I have biometrics on there is zero reason for anything else.

Basically the current security system is overdoing it. I suggest getting rid of passwords all together OR only requiring one or the other. Like it I forget my password or I forget my phone I can use the other but JFC its a hassle.

Before you get mad at me, when was the last time you watched it?

  • Dialogue is mediocre
  • story left me indifferent
  • characters are one dimensional
  • there are no surprises
  • the world is cool tho
  • and my god are they crying a lot while carrying that MF to that Volcano 🌋

The best thing I can say about this movie trilogy is that it is kinda comfy

... And at worst, actively making your bedroom less functional and more cumbersome to use. The arguments I hear in favor of it are completely asinine and I will address them one by one.

  1. It makes it more comfortable to sleep in.

I have absolutely no idea where that comes from. Do you all sleep like Dracula? My bedding is usually tussled about within minutes of me laying in bed. Blankets balled up for knee support, one leg sticking out for temperature venting. I couldn't imagine sliding under the covers and laying perfectly supine like Vladimir Lenin.

  1. It doesn't take much time, so you might as well do it.

I find any task not worth my time to be a waste, so unless it has a purpose, it is actively infuriating to do.

  1. It looks nice. And an unmade bed looks lazy

Given that this is an entirely subjective reason, I can't exactly "disagree" with it. But if there was someone I trust enough to be in my bedroom, I'm not going to waste my time convincing you that I do not, in fact, sleep in my bed.

Not to mention that if you want to nap or even sit on the end of the bed, you have to make it again. It is an incredibly unstable artwork, making me avoid using my bed unless I really need to.

If you make your bed, I have no judgment for you. Just like people who fold designs into the ends of their toilet paper. I couldn't imagine caring about something like that, but it literally doesn't affect me at all, so go nuts.

But I think we should be honest and call it what it is: some kind of shameful cleaning ritual that is probably some vestigial military chore, and I want nothing to do with it.

When I was a youngling, graphics improved quickly and that made older games look worse by every year. What initially looked amazing and "life-like" turned dated in just a couple of years, however it seems graphics has plateaued in the last ten-ish years.

I would say that we reached the point of diminishing returns around next-gen GTA V / MGS V. Not that you can't see the difference between those and modern games, but it's nowhere the leap from San Andreas to GTA IV.

I recently started playing MGS V again and I'm shocked at how good it still looks, compare it to RDD 2 and you would probably need a side by side comparison to see the extra detail.

We have finally reached a point where old games dont get less immersive because our baseline in visual fidelity keeps increasing, or if it does it's atleast a lot slower.

So FIFA has decided to use the format of 12 groups of 4 top 2 go through plus the top 8 3rd place teams. This makes the group stage almost meaningless and not very exiting, it allows teams to put in less effort and still make it to a bloated round of 32.

Having 8 groups of 6 with the top 2 teams going though would make for an extremely intense group stage, give us more games, give us better games, and just be an over all better product.

-Math for 12 group format- 12 groups of 4 = 6 x 12 = 72 games 72 + 16 + 8 + 4 + 2 + 2 = 104

-Math for 8 group format- 8 groups of 6 = 15 x 8 = 120 games 120 + 8 + 4 + 2 + 2 = 136

Now I know what y'all are thinking. What about the players how many games would the final 4 teams play?

-Math for the 12 group format- 3 (group Games) + 5 (Knockout Games) = 8 games

-Math for the 8 group format- 5 (Group Games) + 4 (Knockout Games = 9 games

So overall FIFA and the fans and even the players (more merciful on the bad teams, more bragging rights for the good teams to make it out of the group stage) benefit from the 8 group format.

It has obvious advantages, but the way it went no further than mini\micro-usb in design department shows it's flaws even more.

The death of connecting parts was always a concern, and short, smooth format without any kind of a clipse fixation makes it fail to connect after a while like any other with the same production quality.

The overuse of it nowadays leads to bigger failure rates because you now can use cords interchangeably, so these connectors wear off faster than before (not to say your devices have faster charging times and higher discharging rates, so the plug\unplug routine is generally more frequent nowadays).

Your go-to universal cord can charge your phone, earbuds, vape, notebook, video-converter, beatmachine, microphone, gamepad etc. And unless you have a dedicated cord for each one of those, you'd experience them breaking up at surprising speeds.

The two-sided design is it's crowning jewel, but I could've traded it for some better one-sided longer design with some sort of a lock instead. Some DP cords I have have a pair of teeth that can secure the connector in the hole, with a button to release it. It is not possible in Type-C I believe.

Big Cord bathes in cash as we speak.

I hate how it's all about 'mental health awareness' and 'mental health positivity' unless you have ASPD, BPD, NPD or are a compulsive liar.

As someone who has ASPD I hate how our society treats mental illnesses that aren't considered wholesome like depression or autism.

I recently decided to bite the bullet and get into AI and specifically LLMs. Fuck corporate assholes and data hungry companies so I got some second hand GPUs and made a $800 rig that can run 32b models at very usable speeds. I started playing with it and decided to use pycharm with continue and a local ollama to have my own copilot.

I must say, this is the future. Not in the sense that soon we will all be prompt engineers (lol) but assuming that LLMs don't reach a point of true intelligence and continue to be fancier and fancier regurgitation machines, this is like having an instant StackOverflow in your IDE. I don't even bother with complex and unique ideas with it since it really seems that once you reach that area it becomes useless. Basically my programming flow has always started with writing down my rough idea of what I want to do and how I plan on doing it. Now I just feed that to the LLM and it gives me code that is like 90% accurate and I just do a code review, fix mistakes or weird logic and from there as I expand my code I use the LLM as a replacement for online searching. Need syntax help or basic library context? LLM got you covered. Need a function that does something basic or well known? LLM! It's kind of like having an infinite boilerplate library that can custom fit your needs. I think that the reason it works so well for me is that I really only let it handle the basics, anything that I need to think through I do myself.

I doubt we will ever go back from this.

I'm not sure how or why grape became the default. For the longest time, I thought I didn't like PB&J. But ever since trying it with strawberry instead, I understood the appeal. It's so much better, and now I find it weird that the combination isn't more common.

All you need is some Jo Sonja acrylics. Cheap. High quality. Work perfectly.

Get base colours. Mix your own, and make some beautiful colours that nobody else has.

Save money. Win.

The industry doesn't want you to know you can just mix your colours, just like every other artist out there does.

Data privacy is all the rage and people want to have an internet where companies need permission to sell your data and where you can use the FREE service without letting them tell advertisers what you actually like.

There are only 2 possible models for the internet

  1. A free internet where websites, browsers and search engines make money by selling your data to companies who want to sell their products to users.

  2. A subscription based internet where you companies don't use your data but charge a fee to use a specific website, browser or search engine.

I can guarantee that all these people complaining about "muh privacy" would not like having a paywall restricted internet.

Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!

How voting works:

Vote the opposite of the norm.

If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.

Guidelines:

Tag your post, if possible (not required)

  • If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
  • If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].

Rules:

1. NO POLITICS

Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.

2. Be civil.

Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...

Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.

5. No trolling.

This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.

6. Defend your opinion

This is a bit of a mix of rules 4 and 5 to help foster higher quality posts. You are expected to defend your unpopular opinion in the post body. We don't expect a whole manifesto (please, no manifestos), but you should at least provide some details as to why you hold the position you do.

Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/
