So, I notice a lot of hentai communities don't have a very clearly defined rules sidebar. I've posted below the standard verbiage I'm using for my communities in case anyone wants to copy paste it. I'm also glad to take suggestions for any modifications to make it clearer:

- Only hentai is welcome, if its porn or cosplays take it somewhere else.
- No gore, vore, scat or anything that would be considered very extreme.
- No low effort posts (low quality images/videos, black bars, etc.)
- No AI generated content. If you want to post anything AI generated use the relevant communities, such as !aigen
- It must be drawn.
- Loli / shota is banned, as per instance rules. There's a degree of leniency here if the violating nature of the image is not obvious, due to the general youthful appearance of anime-style art, however, repeated violations *will* result in a ban, as will any flagrant violations.
- Two-strike rules are rules for which you will get only a single warning before being banned for any subsequent violation.
- There's a hard ban on any characters who are under the age of 18 canonically. This is an instance-wide rule. Look up the characters before you post. See [here](https://lemmynsfw.com/post/94532) for a guide on how to do so. This is a two-strike rule. If the mods can manage to figure it out while looking at every post posted, you should be able to figure it out for your own.
- Schoolgirl uniforms ride the edge of presumed majority. Any indication of the character being anything other than a senior is of course clear underage content and will be removed accordingly. If the indication is obvious, e.g. dialogue text within the picture, this will be treated as a two-strike rule. Furthermore, any content of a schoolgirl with what is obviously a teacher will be removed. This is a two-strike rule. The same goes for depictions of a schoolgirl in a school.

So, it's come to my attention that some people are unaware how to do this, so I wanted to share my approach, given it's crucial to effective moderation of potential loli/shota content under the current rules.

First, look up the image with Saucenao, and that failing, Google reverse image search. (TinEye doesn't really work in my experience so not much point trying.) Generally, once the original image is found, it's fairly easy to find a list of characters. At that point some Googling can find the ages of the characters. I will be looking to making a tool to make this easier and less of a manual process, however, that'll take time.

Edit: Also, any other software guys interested in discussing the technical details behind automating this process are welcome to message me so we can coordinate, it'd be ideal to get this done as soon as possible, but I don't really have any knowledge of the Lemmy API. Gelbooru is the easiest site to use for determining characters off Saucenao, so I'm thinking we get a database of known underage characters going and bot a Saucenao -> Gelbooru scrape before running a quick lookup.

While due to the nature of anime as tending to depict characters with younger looking facial and bodily proportions means that we tend to prefer to assume characters to be over the age of majority without other indication, schoolgirl uniforms present a particular difficulty. Yes, it's a common fetish, especially in hentai, and in theory there's no direct reason to assume the character is actually a schoolgirl rather than someone roleplaying, as is common, see for instance !schoolgirlskirts. However, depictions in a school get more complicated, especially those where an apparent authority figure such as a teacher is involved. For the sake of drawing a wide berth around potentially illegal content, the rule is as follows:

Depictions of schoolgirls are allowed, however usual rules about presuming age of majority are more tenuous. Flat-chested / petite art will be judged more harshly by the mods for potential illegality. Any indication of the character depicted being anything other than final year will be treated as proof of underage content. Any depiction of sexual activity with a teacher or other apparent authority figure is banned. Any depiction of a schoolgirl in a school setting is banned.

Given the new rules, I feel like it'd be prudent for those of us running hentai communities to build a list of known underage characters with (non-pornographic obviously) reference images so we can identify them and remove posts involving them.

To be honest, I didn't really intend it to fall under there, I'd kinda envisioned a strictly linear set of tags in series of escalating graphicness. Mild rope bondage and the like seems more or less softcore to me, [Fetish] was meant to be reserved for more extreme stuff like spanking, bruising, etc. With that said though, as someone who is into bondage, I don't know if I necessarily feel comfortable making that amendment to the rules and explicitly allowing it under [Soft] and [Hard] without input.
