Red Lobster is so fucking bad dude

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 63 points 11 months ago (7 children)

I see what you're saying, but I would like to counter it with CHEDDAR BISCUITS.

[–] lookorex@lemmy.world 18 points 11 months ago (2 children)

They sell the mix for those in grocery stores. Just make your own at home

[–] Fiivemacs@lemmy.ca 23 points 11 months ago

Not even the mix. It's so expensive for what it is.

flour, shortening, salt, sugar and baking powder. Add cheese to he mix, bake. Then literally soak them in garlic butter when they are done. Whole thing takes maybe 30 minutes.

You're one of those people who thinks that frozen pizza is just as good as delivery, aren't you?

[–] Bonehead@kbin.social 24 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Then make it from scratch. It's not that hard and better than restaurants. And yes, my homemade pizza is better than delivery too, since I take the time to let the dough sit for a few days to develop flavor and use higher quality toppings than the average pizza shop.

All I can say to someone who says to me things like, "it’s not that hard and better than restaurants" is that they are a far better cook than me or anyone I'm related to.

[–] Bonehead@kbin.social 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That's what the boxed mix is for...people that need everything measured out and as simple as possible. And pretty soon that may be all you can get. So you're either going to have to give them up, or get better at cooking. I'd suggest getting better at cooking. It really makes life easier, or at least tastier.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I've had decades to get better at cooking. I don't think it's going to happen.

[–] Fiivemacs@lemmy.ca 7 points 11 months ago

Then never have cheddar bay biscuits again. That's a you problem. Children are able to cook this.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I will make you my homemade sourdough biscuits FlyingSquid.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Why thank you!

I'll be right over!! Pizza and Cheddar Biscuit party at (https://kbin.run/u/@Bonehead@kbin.social)'s house!!!

[–] SuiXi3D@fedia.io 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

let the dough sit for a few days

But I want it NOW.

[–] Bonehead@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Then it will still taste good but it just won't be as tasty as it could be. Patience and planning makes for great pizza, but even thrown together pizza is still better than frozen.

[–] SuiXi3D@fedia.io 3 points 11 months ago

Haha, I was being sarcastic. I used to run a bread bakery. We’d slow ferment our sourdough over three days. There’s nothing like a good, fresh bread.

[–] lookorex@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Fuck no I'm not. Frozen is never as good as freshly baked. But going to red lobster for the biscuits is like buying an airline for free peanuts

[–] jelloeater85@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

I bought the mix and made waffles with it... Life altering. 🤯

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Easy to find the recipe online

[–] protist@mander.xyz 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

I absolutely will.

[–] clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

Biscuit boxes have a cheesy biscuit recipe on them that's really good. I add garlic.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

There's an excellent fiction novel about the closing night of a Red Lobster that's really great though (Last Night at the Lobster by Stewart O'Nan) which I'm glad it inspired at least.

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I thought you said science fiction for a moment, and I was intrigued. “Last Night at the Lobster” sounds a lot more sinister with that in mind.

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

"The year is 2374. The Casual Dining War is coming to a rapid close as The Fifteenth Applebee's Space Brigade approaches the last combination Red Lobster/Olive Garden in existence. This is the story of the brave servers who fought that battle."

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Yes haha. But it's a great book!

[–] Num10ck@lemmy.world 25 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I don't understand how it occured but Red Lobster is the prime spot for mixed race couples to celebrate adult birthdays with lots of alcohol. Otherwise its for nobody somehow.

[–] dream_weasel@iusearchlinux.fyi 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Is red lobster run by sovcits? Was the article written by sovcits? Where are the sovcits, Mr Bones?!

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Sovcits are for Insane People Facebook.
