I get it. Heathcliff is just The Far Side if Gary Larson suffered a stroke that caused both an obsession with an orange cat and the removal of any sense of humor whatsoever.

I can't believe this is real. Who is unironically enjoying Heathcliff?

Who is unironically enjoying Heathcliff?

Probably the same people who enjoy Garfield, family circus, Cathy, BC, hagar the horrible, beetle Bailey, and a litany of other painfully unfunny yet somehow ubiquitous comic strips

OP apparently. This dumb "Heathcliff without Heathcliff" joke got tired a year ago yet they're still doing it. Obviously they actually derive some pleasure from looking upon these comics.

I like these comics bc they're surreal. Why is the kid talking about puppets? Why is the old man looking up? Are the all puppets in the hands of an angry god? Is the old man in the chair seeing Cthulhu-like eldritch abominations using inner vision? Is the old man in the kitchen about to feed them all poison because they are cult members and they want to join the Space People in a flying saucer and thus escape the Cycle of Puppethood? None of these interpretations are "funny", but they're interesting to think about.

(If you don't like them that's OK, I'm not trying to convince you otherwise, I'm just explaining why I like them.)

I love these comics, written and without Heathcliff because they are absolutely inane.

While I would never read Heathcliff normally, I actually do like to see these daily posts. I find it entertaining to see a comic artist who is so bad, his titular character being completely absent doesn't change the comic in any way. It's absurdism

I'll admit I don't fully get this one

Puppet Heathcliff is a basically an alter ego for Heathcliff. There are only about 10 appearances. And they are usually Iggy telling someone what the puppet is communicating. I know this doesn't really help explain anything that might be the joke here. But at least you have some context.

Ooh, thank you!
