Based on the GOP approach to school shootings, they should deliver thoughts & prayers then arm the ticket taker event staff.

Response was way better than Uvalde for some reason.

Secret Service actually gets that their job includes voluntarily dying to protect who they're there to defend.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago

If that were true, there would be no photos of trumps head afterwards.

arm the ticket taker event staff.

Do not arm the Ticketmaster people!

This sounds like one of those stupid warnings they put on product warning labels. I'm going to find the user-manual templates at work and sneak this in there.

Donald Trump in 2016 : "maybe the second amendment people should do something about it"

Donald Trump today "No, wait. Not like that"

[–] [email protected] 19 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (2 children)

On the liberal side, you have "Donald Trump is an existential threat who will end American democracy if he gets elected".

And on the conservative side, you've got a "Godking Emperor Trump will remake America in his image" wing and a "Jewish Puppet master Jared Kushner is going to hand America over to the Chinese Muslim Illegal Cartel Cabals to steal all the adrenochrome in the white babies" wing.

What is the rational response if you believe even a fraction of this? I'm amazed we haven't seen more shootings to date.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Is Trump not an existential threat to democracy? We saw all the laws passed in Republican states in 2020 to further restrict voting after he lost, which was merely a continuation of Republican behavior.

Both sides are not the same, one has done and plans to do more harm than the other.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Is Trump not an existential threat to democracy?

Not so existential that anyone would actually advocate shooting him. But that's what makes the rhetoric so dizzying. You'd think "ending democracy" would be on par with anything Al Awlaki or Qasem Soleimani was up to. And look how we treated them.

Both sides are not the same

No. If this had been a shot at Biden, you'd have sitting Reps openly cheering.

But the contradiction is driving people nuts regardless.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

that anyone would actually advocate shooting him

Is that popular advocacy? I mostly see people saying they are unsympathetic because of Trump's violent rhetoric; a "reap what you sow" mentality.

But the contradiction is driving people nuts regardless.

What contradiction?

I don't advocate for missing the shots you take at fascists

[–] [email protected] 16 points 8 months ago

Like when Paul Polosie was attacked with a hammer.

[–] [email protected] 69 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Latest is that the shooter was a registered republican, so shit is going all different shades of weird vs what everyone was assuming about what the motive was probably gonna be.

[–] [email protected] 83 points 8 months ago (5 children)

Dude was 20.

This was going to be his first time voting.

What everyone should be talking about is...

How disenfranchised the youth is with their future prospects, so much so that they are willing to go this far.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 8 months ago (2 children)

That and what you register for may not have anything to do with which side of the political spectrum you are on. Only which primary they let you vote in.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 8 months ago

How much do we bet he knew that? I am not trying to speak I'll of him. But I know at 20 there was not much of an education on how our modern system works. I learned from experience.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

The fact that this was his first election makes it more likely he actually agreed with the GOP, because this year's primaries were kinda decided before they started.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 8 months ago

It's good to see the youth exercising their rights!

[–] [email protected] 11 points 8 months ago

His voter registration info actually shows that he voted in the 2022 mid-terms. This would have been his first time voting for a president though.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago

What everyone should be talking about is...

Or nothing. Just stick to too soon jokes and wait for details.

I had a feeling something like this would happen. The right jumped on the "it was a radical leftist that did it!" almost instantly. Democrats made the same mistake with the Vegas shooter, assuming it was done by a conservative nutjob, but actually just an apolitical psychopath.

I've learned to never assume political affiliation when I hear about these things happening because someone on the right is just as likely to be the perp as someone on the left for the same reason.

"We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless ― if the left allows it to be,” ~ Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation

This rhetoric is so fucking dangerous. We’re sleep walking into a scary next few years.

Kevin Roberts reminds me a lot of Carl Schmitt. He is one dangerous motherfucker. Everybody talks about Trump, but Trump is just a figurehead. It's parasites like Roberts that are actively seeking to destroy the foundation of this country.

[–] [email protected] 59 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Im already tired of hearing it framed as a politician getting shot. This politician raped a 12 year old.

A pedophile rapist got shot at.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago (2 children)

You aren't implying he's the only pedophile rapist politician, are you?

Really? Now, republicans are crying about toning down the political discourse? Anyone forget about Gabby Giffords? Did anything change since back then? No. It just got worse and it's probably going to get even worse in the future.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 8 months ago

Anyone forget about Gabby Giffords?

Yes. Straight down the memory hole, assuming you don't believe it was a fake fifth columnist inside job to trick Arizona into Going Woke.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago (5 children)

Why do you assume this is a Republican posting the meme? Why are you so quick to assume and attack one side? Remind me again, what have Dems been saying constantly about sending Seal Team 6 to kill Trump after the Supreme Court decision on immunity?

Ffs, you are so blatantly stuck in your echochamber.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 8 months ago (1 children)

People on the left talk about "sending in Seal Team 6" as a way of pointing out the hypocrisy and short-sightedness of the right's power grab. Not because anyone actually thinks the president should assassinate people.

Meanwhile Trump has literally said he wants to execute his political opponents and the right-wing supreme court gave their blessing.

It's not a bothsides, get off the fence.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

They're not on the fence, they're a conservative that doesn't pick up the sarcasm because they'd unironically do it.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 8 months ago

I wasn't referring to the meme, but rather the rhetoric of the republican party since the Obama era.

Also, which democratic politician was it that talked about sending in seal team 6? As in, an actual representative, not just some random person on social media? Genuinely curious, since I only found that a judge was asking the question if the recent supreme court decision would allow for something like this.

Other than that I, also found this:

https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4398223-trump-team-argues-assassination-of-rivals-is-covered-by-presidential-immunity/amp/?nxs-test=amp

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Why do you assume this is a Republican posting the meme?

That's not how I took their comment. It was pointing out the hypocrisy of the Right. You know how the Right is always somehow justified in their actions of physically attacking political opponents.

Nancy Pelosi's husband is another example. Did you hear any support for their families from the right wing after either of those attacks? The right wing doesn't care about people, they want to kill people they don't like. Ex: Jan 6

Contrast with the left, when someone doesn't abide by the law. They call for justice, they don't believe crimes are okay just because it's their party. Do you know why the left says the seal team 6 joke? It's pointing out the rights hypocrisy again. Because trump would have no problem killing Biden or anyone else he doesn't like. Difference is the right wing likes violence, and would condone trumps actions. Whereas if Biden ever did that he would immediately be out of the Democrat ticket. And the left would be calling for him to be tried criminally.

But hey keep drinking the billionaires propaganda. And let them manipulate you into giving them, this country on a silver platter.

Yeah, I honestly don't give two shits that someone shot at him since he and his party has been advocating and encouraging political and fun violence for literal decades.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 8 months ago

Trump is the end of democracy and he's going to genocide everyone that doesn't look like me. None of our political rhetoric is healthy right now. I shouldn't be amazed at our lack of self awareness regarding politics, but fuck.

Lololol sounds like an abusive drunk.

"Look at what you made me do to you bitch!!"

[–] [email protected] 27 points 8 months ago (8 children)

sounds like an abusive drunk.

Yeah, it's pretty weird that the teetotaler Trump does all the fucking time..
