Girls?

Excuse me, I'm pretty sure I'm not a girl and I want it!

Pointlessly-gendered 16th century rings that unfold into an astronomical sphere.

OP says girls want it.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

Female, obviously.

Fr. Someone start making reproductions

[–] [email protected] 30 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I just checked and there are a ton. You can get one for like 3 bucks on Amazon.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

These are 99¢ on AliExpress.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

There are some versions sold online for 90 dollars it seems. I'm totally sending this to my wife.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Amazon has them for $5.40.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

and yet somehow bigots still demand proof that gender is a spectrum 💁💁💁

Biblically accurate ring.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Fuck girls. I want that ring!

Cheese. Am girl, want cheese. Ring is interesting but not practical.

The Complete Book of Magic and Witchcraft by Kathryn Paulsen, 1971

Biblical accurate angel ring

[–] [email protected] 19 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I bought an identical one on aliexpress for a few bucks and I wonder if it was a reproduction or if this is exactly the same thing portrayed as a 16th century ring. I think the later is most likely.

Can you find out and get back to me please.

I bet the quality of this is also astronomical.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 10 months ago (2 children)

This is one of those awesome things that you’ll find in every size but the one you need. So you buy a size up and hope to find a use for it someday. But alas, you never do, and there it sits indefinitely, occasionally catching your interest and making you go “aww that was neat.. shame it didn’t fit”, until you die and it ends up at a thrift shop.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

nah babe, your knuckles keep getting bigger for like you’re entire life. rings are totally one of those things you can grow into!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

Gold chain, now it's a necklace!

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Fuck, that looks like such a good fidget toy, I want it!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

I’ve worn an 8 band puzzle ring for probably 40 years now (mine is silver, not gold) and it does indeed make a good fidget toy. Back in high school I taught myself to put it together behind my back, by feel only, when in school.

A friend of mine in college refused to let me show her how to put it together. It took her almost a full semester during a really boring class to figure it out herself.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

I mean, I'd lose it immediately, but I still want it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Not a ring, but if you have access to a 3d printer, I have one of these and I really like it

[–] [email protected] 15 points 10 months ago (1 children)

But how do you avoid your fingers getting chopped off when it unfolds?

[–] [email protected] 50 points 10 months ago

Some people report they prefer to take it off before unfolding it. But they are unverified reports so take this info with a grain of salt.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 10 months ago

Don't be afraid

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago

That's not an astronomical ring. Orbits are planar, so spherical

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago

You think I make "16th Century Jewelry" money??? I'm out here fightin' for my life.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

Mine just wants a ring 🥴

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That's actually a massive ring... Like it would be very uncomfortable.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

How can you tell how big it is from the photo with nothing but the ring in it?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

I bought one of those from Wish years ago. Looked identical to that.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

thats just the wheel of power

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

I prefer mine that comes apart into a puzzle that you get to put back together before you can wear it again...
But like actually I love it so much.
