It's disgraceful that a country as rich as ours refuses to provide the bare minimum to live on for those that need it. I'm so sick of this ideology. When you look at other countries in Western/Northern Europe we're basically a 3rd world country.

My partner keeps having seizures at work but has to go in because he doesn't qualify for PIP. His employer doesn't really know how to handle it, because why would they, and I have to miss work every time the hospital phones me up with him in their care. Fuck this country, fuck the rich.

I have personal experience with the government-funded “access to work” scheme. It was absolutely horrible. The people who run it could not give less of a shit helping people. It’s extremely dehumanising. They have no idea of the challenges imposed by disability. They do not listen when you say that your disability prevents you from doing something. I can’t imagine how horrible it would have to be to have to interact with those people.

Currently 2.4 million of the most unwell or disabled people claiming benefits are categorised as having limited capability for work and work-related activity (LCWRA).

They receive about £390 a month extra on top of the basic rate of universal credit, have no requirement to look or prepare for work and face no penalties.

Tom Pollard, head of social policy at the New Economics Foundation, said: “Take-up of support is low because people are often wary of the DWP and the jobcentre.

Just like physical illness, working from home when mentally unwell stops people performing at their best and can delay their recovery.”

And yet people who are perfectly capable of working are getting benefits.

The system needs changing from top to bottom.

It's disgraceful that people who need help don't get it yet others game the system for profit.

By design. By keeping grift alive, they create a permanent underclass they can always point to and say "Look at those moochers leeching off you!", which is true, but only designed to keep our attention off the millions upon millions the people in power redistribute to themselves and their cronies.

Yeah when I hear people complaining about those living off the Welfare State I always go off on a mad one about the Amazon Distribution Centre that had local authorities fighting each other to have it in their area. To the point where the winning local authority built a road specifically for the Distribution Centre, and to rub salt into the wound, named it Amazon Way.

Amazon are quite happy to take Taxpayer Money but when it becomes time to pay Tax they're based in a tax haven

Everyone up in arms about Welfare but don't give a fuck about Corporate Welfare.

And that’s not even saying anything about the many, many times that government “incompetence” awarded the contract for the delivery of some goods/service to a tiny company that had only been established in the days/weeks prior by some relation to someone who made the decision about the spending.

The state, in the current design, is basically just a series of smoke and mirrors designed exclusively to steal from us, to fight our fellow humans for them, and thank them for the opportunity.

It's a necessary step towards making everyone responsible for their own existence and as such is to be welcomed. It is little wonder that people feel devalued if decreed unable to work. Everyone needs to be able to support themselves and those they are responsible for its intrinsic to being human.
