Thanks for the comments and the kind words! I feel compelled to reply to address a few of your points. I know that your heart is in the right place and that you mean well by what you wrote, and so I am replying not to argue with you or to be a pedant, but because I hope that you might be interested in what I have to say and that it might help you in the future. Apologies in advance for 'picking your comment apart' but it's the easiest way for me to structure my reply.

Breaking laws, in and of itself, accomplishes nothing.

I don't think this is true, even in the most abstract - imagine we lived in a society where it was against the law to feed the homeless - breaking that law would clearly accomplish feeding a hungry person if nothing else. And beyond that, breaking a law is a clear statement that you do not respect it - laws depend on our compliance, if everyone in a society decides to disregard a law, then it may as well not exist. Finally, it also can serve as an inspiration to others. There has been a lot of writing on the subject of the terrible deeds that humans can do when those deeds are normalised by a group - this can be used for positive, good things just as well.

If you had said "abolish", I would agree. We should never tolerate injustice, and 'reform' implies that there is something worth saving in the injustice. It is far better to completely get rid of the injustice (and whoever was responsible for it) first, and creating a new alternative, if necessary, from scratch - with none of the ideas and/or people involved with the original.

That's just an optional nicety. As I said before, we should have a zero tolerance policy towards injustice. The law does not dictate what is and is not just, and basically exists to protect the rich and powerful from the rest of us. I have very little respect for the law, and I encourage everyone to see the world the same way that I do. We should help each other, be kind and respectful, work together to build a better future - and I do not see the law as necessary or even desirable for that. The law is just a set of rules given to us by someone who has all of the violence and we have to do what they say or they use the violence against us. It's not a good thing, it's abusive.

I read the article and responded to several of the points elsewhere (OP posted it twice) - it’s total nonsense, sorry. If you read that and thought it was sensible I would strongly, strongly encourage you to seek out a media literacy course because it is quite overt misinformation

Yes, that is how a banned breeds list works, and pretty much all laws. “Oh but you'll have to ban other breeds in the future!”, great! We’re not trying to write the One Law that is forever good and valid. That’s like saying, “if you ban certain activities you’ll get an ever-expanding list of crimes!”

That’s just not true, sadly. From what we know about dog breeding is that aggression is a very heritable trait, so dogs that have been bred for fighting, even with good upbringing, are inherently more likely to snap and harm someone than a dog in the same situation which was bred from less aggressive dogs.

Humans and computers see and understand artwork completely differently. If you tasked both a human and a computer to look at a painting for 10 milliseconds and asked them to recreate it from memory, how accurate would their reproductions be? It is completely wrong and very misleading to equate human learning with machine learning. They are completely different processes.

Lots of stuff got added: space combat, ship building, the new research system, the rank challenges stuff, new lockpicking, and I bet loads of stuff besides that I forgot. Adding all of that stuff to a new game from scratch would take a good chunk of time, but I can imagine patching it all in to an ancient game engine that’s probably barely hanging together honestly it’s surprising they got some of it working at all

Interestingly, the original elder scrolls games had a lot of procedurally generated content, it was only Morrowind that was the first “handmade” world from what I recall. But it would have been much cooler if they could have added a few interesting little secrets or stories to each planet and just had fewer of them or something.

Come on man, I’ve seen you around a lot and I know you post a lot of good stuff, but to be fair, you’re not blameless here. I get that you’re not interested in a game and it’s frustrating to see lots of posts about it dominating your feed, but clearly the OP is interested and excited about it, and basically telling them to shut up about their interest just because it’s not what you want to hear about is a mean thing to do. It would be different if they posted spam links to their own blog every single day or something like that but they post all sorts of relevant news links to various communities so I think they just share stories they’re interested in, and that’s valuable to the community too! We all should be working together to build a nice friendly community to talk about what we enjoy and sometimes that means we have to tolerate others quirks and discussing things we don’t particularly care for.
