Summary

The politicization of transgender children in the U.S. has escalated, with more than half of states banning gender-affirming care for minors since Arkansas passed the first ban in 2021.

Tennessee’s HB1, prohibiting transition-related care while allowing similar treatments for non-transition purposes, faces a Supreme Court challenge led by the ACLU and DOJ.

Conservative justices appear poised to uphold the law, citing states’ rights and physiological differences.

Conservatives started the trans conversations after losing popular opinion on gay marriage. The next wave as they got push back on trans rights was to start ranting about furries popping in litterboxes. Then backed off when no one knew what the fuck they were talking about.

Puberty blockers are reversible and merely a way to let you delay making a more permanent choice until you're an adult.

Unlike a lot of other shit in the world we sort of have the absolute ideal medicines and tools in this field.

Well it's a good thing that we have meds that allow us to delay the necessity in making that choice. Oh wait, no, they are preventing those as well, forcing a choice on the child. The exact opposite of what you claim to be trying to stop.

Maybe you need to actually be educated about things from industry experts before you try and force your expectations on society. Because they've dedicated their life to this. Your feelings about the matter mean absolutely nothing.

You asked if this was the sort of decision a child should be making. Showing you have no clue about how these decisions are made. And then implied that it was child abuse. Showing that you are being disingenuous with your concern.

They don't just let kids decide this on their own. The kid has to want it. The guardians have to consent, and doctors have to decide there's reason for it. They don't just do it for "funsies". And even then until they are an adult nothing permanent or irreversible is done.

Such as...

HRT is already basically never prescribed to prepubescent and early pubescent children, puberty blockers have been used for cisgendered children entering puberty too early for decades and is perfectly safe for them to take with few to no truly major life altering impacts. Trans minors under 18 already can't get gender affirming surgery as laid out in the DSM-V.

Be precise and descriptive in your language when arguing, nobody has the time or energy to cover every possibility when you vaguely allude to a number of potential talking points as a bullshit gotcha for the person who actually decided to engage with your bullshit in good faith.

Good thing they aren't passing laws that target people who dress as a gender other than what's on their birth certificate, or use a bathroom, or get an ID card, or perform in drag, or teach about transgender people.

That would all definitely go beyond life changing medical decisions of children.

Oh wait.

And they're banning the medication that puts puberty on pause and is responsible for reducing suicide rates in trans teenagers. So no. This isn't about saving the kids. This is about hurting them, and the adults.

Any child under consideration for a HRT prescription is already going through puberty. That is permanent in every way that HRT is. There’s not an option where nothing happens if you put it off until they’re 18.
