Think of it like a video game HUD where there's just text floating above a person's head where you see all their political beliefs, including the degree of bigotry (if any), or whether or not the person believes in the use of violence to acheive polical goals, basically every little detail that would accurately depict people's political beliefs. Your beliefs are also visible to others. This effect has 1KM radius, including people above and below you.

So, how fucked are you?

(Think of all the authorities in your area that can see your beliefs, including the beliefs regarding the recent incident...)

I'd be assassinated by pig before I took ten steps.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

I think a lot of people wouldn't like me as much as they already don't.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

I'll be fine, I don't lie about my beliefs, and it's pretty 50 50 here. I'm pretty sure I have some family members that would be sweating about it though.

Does it apply to people online?

Does it apply to people on a television screen?

Does it apply to videos of people in the past, who have since changed their beliefs?

What do I see if someone has convinced they are somebody else? Whose beliefs do I see?

I kind of understand the premise ("what happens if we can't hide our beliefs anymore") but the details are too important to gloss over

Every little detail would probably cause some issues. Someone walking around here “advertising” racism would have some real problems as where I live is very mixed. There are probably a lot of people riding the edge of violence for a multitude of reasons, assumed rage over politics-based slights absolutely being one of them. I don’t think I’d have too many personal problems, considering my “hard-left” leanings revolve around trying to make lives better for everyone.

Might help if you got within a km of a politician, you could tell pretty quick how full of shit they were. There’d be some serious upheaval, I think.

Universal Healthcare? Fuck I'd settle for Healthcare that works.

Just... anything I want anything good, any change possible. Obviously that makes me a 'traitor' to society or whatever. Why does it just keep getting worse?!

So anyway, they'd burn me at the stake.

Oh no, people now will know I am a stoic communist and real socialist even without me plastering my political believes in each discussion even vaguely related to politics or economics.

Nice

Depends who's looking. Most of the poor and middle class ~~asking~~ align with my views, if I don't say scary words like "communist” and "socialist"; Those with huge incomes might have a problem. And my ex who aligns with my views but votes against them because they somehow think these people care about them.

The "CRAPITALISM" bumper-sticker isn't enough of a beacon?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

Honestly, I'm not totally sure. I think a lot of people would look at me strangely because of my pretty hardcore libertarian views, though. And I might very well be a target for the police.

What kinda Googlebook data powers are those that know me better than I know myself?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

I’d be fine every where I go unless there’s a lot of religious people around.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

I'm homeless and unemployed by the end of the day and have to flee the state. Both my landlord and general manager are hardcore MAGAts, and I live in a small, remote town in a very red state. It would genuinely not be safe for my politics to be known.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

I'm pretty fucked. First of all it's going to be several paragraphs because I don't neatly fit an ideology and then there's something to piss off every group.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

I'd be fine, I think. Might find out one or two things about neighbours that they'd rather wasn't known, but I don't think there's anyone who would take great offence at my views, even if they opposed them. And I've nothing I'd want to hide.

I actually kind of like this scenario, as a way for people to understand that what they think about something may be far from the majority position.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

Not very no. I'm probably not a polical anomaly of any kind, but some of my acquaintances might be surprised as I'm usually attributed to more extreme beliefs by those who don't know me as well.
Can't understand why since my voiced opinions aren't different than what the majority holds.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

I’d be fine. I’m self righteous and tell everybody my leftists views anyway.

Do the people seeing this know what each term means, or how it's justified? If not, I'm fucked.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

My opinions and political beliefs are proven fact so everyone can just look at me for the truth

My right extremist friends would hate me for being too economically and socially left; my left extremist friends would hate me for being too socially and economically right. My progressive friends would be upset that I'm not progressive enough on social issues especially. My neo-con and centrist friends would be upset that I oppose the status queue.

Having said, those who examine their own beliefs would probably not fit any label perfectly either, so basically everyone would hate everyone.

I would look above peoples heads for indication that their beliefs are not inherited from a label, but rather assembled through self-reflection and life experience because those sorts of people are more conducive to openly discussing beliefs and possibly having their opinion change in regards to new information.

The authorities wouldn't give a shit because I'm a law abiding citizen and even though I oppose some of the things our nation does, I do not meaningfully resist and I still participate in capitalism and the other structures that prop them up in power.

Thanks for that moment of self examination. Now I'm standing in front of the mirror judging the political beliefs hovering above my own head! :D

OR! Everyone would realize we're not nearly as divided as the establishment tries to make us believe we are, and we could go back to being a mostly unified country, like we were when I was younger, before Fox news, Hannity, and drug addict Limbaugh.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I'm crossing my fingers because that is 100% the preferred outcome.

If I have one message to give to the secular American people, it’s that the world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don’t know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same.
