Awesome!! Stopped following LMG long time ago (occasionally checking out for stuff like when Emily introduced herself for the first time) but glad I can directly follow Emily on youtube now!

I really miss her videos on Linux. I think she really pushed Linux content at LMG.

Glad to hear never heard of her, Im new to the Linux community. But following her YouTube channel and joined her Patreon so ready to learn new things.

Mentioned fediverse at the end, so I think they're aware at least!

I'm not Linus' target demographic, an older tech whose been there and done that, not really interested in surfing the bleeding edge every minute of every day. I knew nothing about Linus, maybe I had seen him in my recommended list here and there, I might have actually watched one of his early vids dunno, don't remember. What I do remember is I was subbed to an American dude who was (is still?) living in Shenzhen who loved going around to all the tech malls picking up parts, and fixing, then remaking old iPhones. I hate Apple, and have never bought a single one of their products, and never will, but this guy was so sincere in his reverse engineering and process it was captivating. One day, outta nowhere he said he was meeting another YouTuber, and that guy was such an offputting purposefully annoying cunt on camera, so diametrically opposed in tone and attitude as the channels host, I stopped watching the channel all together, just put me right off that the dude I had been enthralled by was such a poor judge of character that not only had he invited this Linus kook onto his video, but after experiencing firsthand how fucking annoying he was, decided to publish it.

So yea, not a big fan of Linus.

I wonder if you've heard of the concept of paragraphs to format a text

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ever heard of using punctuation and full sentences?

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Missing a single period at the end of a single sentence reply is a far cry from a wall of text filled with off topic complaining.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well maybe that’s because I think it’s absolutely stupid to apply a standard to someone else while not applying the same standard to yourself. It’s an off topic comment that only takes away from the conversation. While I’ll agree that the top comment isn’t fully relevant, it’s still related. Not to mention the complaints are valid. I 100% would stop watching my favorite channels if they did content with Linus. I already stopped watching him years ago because of his narcissistic traits, how he acts, and how he communicates. So to me the top comment is more relevant than the post.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

Oh shit I forgot the intro, 3 body paragraphs, and the conclusion. I guess my comment is irrelevant.

He's too old for that

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This doesn't have anything to do with Linus, fortunately for you. Emily's videos were the ones I was always most interested in, personally.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Yeah, those were the only tolerable enough to watch for me.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

I think you're thinking of Strange Parts and no he isn't living in China any longer. You've missed a lot of great content in the last 6 years for a pretty silly reason.

Do we know why they left LMG?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I can only speculate that in general anyone would be inclined to step away from dumpster fire.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't want to speculate, that's why I was asking. Third party investigations showed previous allegations unfounded, so I didn't want to jump to conclusions.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

The 3rd party investigation found no evidence.

That doesn’t mean it’s true or not true.

In these types of situations, especially years afterwards, there is a huge lack of evidence, people forget, systems change and data is lost, etc.

The 3rd party investigation is done to reduce liability, not determine the truth.
