Can anyone get Kaepernick a sideline ticket so he can kneel the entire game. That would ruin Donnie's night

[–] chunkystyles@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 months ago

They would wheel out a goddamn trebuchet to eject him about it.

[–] athairmor@lemmy.world 60 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Not going to happen but one or both sides refusing to play would be a massive “Fuck you!” To Trump and let the NFL know who they should be beholden to. Wouldn’t even take every player, just most of a side.

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago (4 children)

You're right, that isn't going to happen 😉

Also, keep in mind that every position has at least one backup

[–] Thassodar@lemm.ee 18 points 2 months ago (2 children)

True but who is going to tune in to a bunch of backups playing?

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Well, admittedly I imagined that developing game night when everyone has already tuned in, but you're right that that's not necessarily the case. Still, the parties at home are already planned and at that point you might as well have the game on anyway because those who really care about football will want their last fix anyway

[–] dev_null@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I mean, wouldn't the game not happening be such a big deal that even people who aren't normally interested would tune in just to see all the drama? I never watched it, but if such a protest happened I would likely be interested to see that.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Most of these players are probably of the "I got mine" mindset. They're not going to blow that up for ethics

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 months ago

Yeah, but people tune into the game to watch the best players in the game that season. Backups playing against backups would be horrible (though prob funny to watch).

However, they'd kind of be scabs in that case, and fuck scabs.

[–] jeeva@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Can you imagine having to explain that, though?

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Nothing would stop someone who made it to the Superbowl to not play. Especially since many (most?) of them probably support him. I know the Chiefs kicker Butker does. They're rich as hell you know.

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I'm hoping Kendrick covers Fuck Donald Trump at the Halftime show. Won't happen, but a man can dream.

[–] graycube@lemmy.world 43 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Kendrick Lamar is headlining the halftime show. I wonder if he'll try anything political?

[–] priapus@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I really really hope so. Kendrick is one of very few artists that I respect that are also big enough to be in the Super Bowl. He at least has a couple songs that mention Trump, maybe he'll perform one.

[–] Timmy_Jizz_Tits@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

I hope he has printed T shirt of Trump and Epstien that he reveals during 'not like us'.

He would definitely think of a better statement to make but it's such a production idk what he can really do cus it would have to be stealthy

[–] Jimmycakes@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Nah, not really his style at all

[–] Gigliorananomicom@sh.itjust.works 43 points 2 months ago

Bootlickers the lot of them

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 30 points 2 months ago (3 children)

I won't even watch the ads this year.

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Are you really watching another KC super bowl? Who cares

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 months ago

Honestly, I haven't watched it in many years, this is my excuse this year.

[–] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 2 months ago

Remember when the Super Bowl was about football?! Fucking crazy, right?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Never did. I wish I could boycott something I already don't give a fuck about, but....

[–] miss_demeanour@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 2 months ago (2 children)

B-B-But they're putting, "Choose Love" bc BoTh ArE tHe SaMe!!!

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Trump will assume it means to love him.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Dipshit kept saying his terrorists attacking the Capitol on J6 was a "day of love".

[–] verdantbanana@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (6 children)

has either side upped the minimum wage, done universal healthcare, chosen workers over corporations, paid the jackboots less, upped the education funds, protected Mother Earth

then both sides are the same

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 31 points 2 months ago

I didn't know both sides tried to overthrow the government. Also have never seen anyone fo in and dismantle the government so fast before. Must have missed that.

[–] Gerudo@lemm.ee 25 points 2 months ago

One side didn't create the biggest step stone to universal Healthcare since medicare/Medicaide. One side isn't trying to remove the department of education. One side isn't actively removing environmental regulations. One side didn't cause an insurrection. Both sides aren't perfect, but one side sure as hell wants to watch the world burn.

[–] Banana@sh.itjust.works 22 points 2 months ago

Not the same, but

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago

BotH SIdeS FOH.

[–] miss_demeanour@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 months ago

Sorry for your loss.

[–] Timmy_Jizz_Tits@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

The best Dems can do is damage control. The Republicans are actively doing damage though.

bOtH sIdEs is such a bill maher take its just reeks of divorced dad energy it's sad.

[–] ZeroCool@slrpnk.net 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Donald Trump’s plan to make history by being the first sitting president to attend.

I mean, what else does he have going on? Everyone knows this is Musk’s presidency. He paid $277mil for it ~~fair and square~~.

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago

Not even a dollar per citizen, orange turd got ripped off.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Look at how big that football looks in that tiny hand.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 months ago

To be fair, have you ever held an NFL regulation-sized football? Those things are fucking massive. Most QB's hands are just monstrously large so it doesn't look as big

That's ok. We have FIFA organizing world cups in arab dictatorships saying they are promoting women's rights, so why should the NFL be different? In the end, for these assholes it's all about money. They never cared about racism, they only faked caring because there was money in "fighting" racism.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 10 points 2 months ago

'Weird' is what they called Elons Nazi salute too. It's not the correct term I feel.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Great now he's going to ruin the Super Bowl too while he's at it. He went to the World Series too. Sports are supposed to be an escape. Can't he (and musk) leave anything alone?

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 1 points 2 months ago

What's there to ruin wtf

[–] sarcasticsunrise@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Well there's my other reason for not watching the bullshit game we're getting this year, the other reasons of course being fuck the Eagles and FUUUUUUUCK the Chiefs

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

This is catering to the king of snowflakes.
