Preferably something salty. Drink loads of water too.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

im eating cheetos, so that’s perfect!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Why salty? Doesn’t that just make you pee more? Or is that the point so the alcohol comes out

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

When you’re drinking more water you also need a little bit of salt to balance out your electrolytes, since you’re pissing them all out.

A pound of bacon and as many eggs as I can afford is my cure.

Drink. More. Water.

  • About 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men
  • About 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women

nonexistent really

The trick is: drink as much water (by volume) as you've had alcoholic beverages before going to sleep.

Don't drink quite so much.

Seriously, hangovers are a sign of excessive drinking. Last memorable one I had was 16 years ago.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think this may be body dependent. Sometimes I get a nasty hangover headache from just two drinks. Lady weekend I pounded like 5 and a half drinks in an hour or two, I was drunk and queasy until deep into the next morning and no hangover. I think it's more about what you eat and drink besides the alcohol.

I don't drink as often as I used to these days and noticed that there's short term tolerance for alcohol. Like if I get a case of beer, if I have 4 the first night after going some months without drinking more than one drink, I'll often stop before getting to 4 because I'm feeling like the drunk is going in a bad direction. But if I have what I can one night, then the next night 4 isn't a big deal.

Same thing seemed to happen with hangovers.

I don't get hangovers, but I also keep myself very hydrated.

The older I get, the longer hangovers last. I've gotten pretty good at squashing them. The secret is to take a multivitamin plus b-12 and iron before bed, along with plenty of water and electrolytes. If I still feel off in the morning, a fruit smoothie with kale sets me straight.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

I drink a cup of water per drink and I'll never get a hangover.

Oh to be young again

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Pedialite is great for rehydrating

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Takes 2-3 days for all of it to completely wear off. There's a fairly high number of people arrested for dui who think being passed out for 8 hrs means they are good to.go after, just hungover.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

If you drink long enough and hard enough, hangovers aren't a thing. It's not that hangovers go away, it's that they become a normal part of life and your body will eventually just tune it out.

At the end of my drinking career, I could black out multiple times a week and still be "normal" the next morning and didn't care or even notice if I was hungover or not.

For me, hangovers kinda morphed into something else entirely: dependency. That plays a huge part in muting anything that a normal person would feel, I am fairly sure.

But no, I don't drink anymore and haven't for a few years now. If I do ever drink again, hangovers absolutely won't be a thing because I'll likely be dead in a couple of days anyway.

I don’t drink often, and not enough to get drunk. I just wanted to say you should drink as much water as you can and eat something, even if it’s just a piece of bread.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

All day. Usually getting worse over the course of the day. Even a relatively mild hangover in the morning would be killing me by early evening.

Nothing helps it either. I've always eaten before drinking. Staying on top of hydrating while and after drinking has no noticable effect.

Until I've had time to digest a large meal and an unholy amount of water. I also have a multivitamin.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Be sure to drink plenty of water. :)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

well, I think I can say after hours of being hungover, it went away!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

When I was young and regularly drank to excess, they used to last until mid afternoon.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I personally don’t get hangovers because I moderate my alcohol intake…Chasing with small sips of water or nonalcoholic drinks, I only remember feeling really fuzzy after a night of bad choices as a younger man. It lasted hours, but was more like a temporary brain fog and not very difficult to overcome.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Depends on my previous hydration and if I had some water in between drinks. Never had one that lasted more than a dayoif feeling fuzzy and out of it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Back in college I would get really bad hangovers a few times. Here is how the absolute worst ones felt.

1 day feeling like trash.

the next day being weak and no energy but feeling so fresh and free, it’s a weird feeling.

Day after that I’m all good.

Then I can’t drink for a long time after that.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

day 1 feeling extremely fatigued, headaches, hunger, vertigo, even nausea i stay very hydrated and don’t have very bad hangovers so then it usually goes away

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Hope your feeling much better today

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

I have a system that works half the time 50% of the time. Still working on it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

About half a day. If it's really bad, a full day.

But I don't usually let it get that bad. Hydrating and eating properly before, during, and after a night of drinking will do wonders. Ideally, you should be hydrating all through the evening, not just chugging a liter or two at the end.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Depends how you drank.

In college when a heavy night could have meant sharing a 5th with one other person then switching to beer? A whole day or maybe 2. As an almost 40 something who had the third one and my lips tingled once? Gone by 9 am usually, unless I woke up to pee and drink 12 to 15 swallows of water then I wake up fine.

That puke and rally 21 to 28 was a glorious time, but you will never get it back lol.
