Maybe blur is just another benefit of cable-stayed bridges

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 25 points 4 weeks ago

No, cable stayed bridges would never betray me like that.

Can I port my subscription list from newpipe to pipepioe?

[–] Eeyore_Syndrome@sh.itjust.works 15 points 4 weeks ago

And settings as well. Yes.

Yes. PipePipe is a fork of NewPipe.

[–] NONE_dc@lemmy.world 7 points 4 weeks ago

Pipepipe is great! Works really good so far.

Practical Engineering is also on Nebula (among other some high quality YouTube channels), and tou can get an ad-free yearly sub for around $30. Not giving my views or af-money to Google.

[–] ElPussyKangaroo@lemmy.world 20 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

The fact that you knew the channel based on the subtitles is incredible 😂

[–] TheFriendlyDickhead@lemm.ee 9 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

To be fair the topic is very specific. There are not that many big channels that talk about engeneering, esspecially bridge engeneering. At least not that I know of.

There is "Real Civil Engineer", but he's actually an architect

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 6 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

How many people talk about cable stray bridges on YouTube

Plus the money actually goes directly to the creators you watch.

[–] bleistift2@sopuli.xyz 6 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

If you’re considering Nebula, I’d, personally, go for the lifetime subscription. It’s the better deal after 5 years.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 4 weeks ago

10 years in my case. I'm grandfathered into a 30$ sub

[–] Anivia@feddit.org 2 points 4 weeks ago (3 children)

Better deal after 5 years, if they still exist and honor the lifetime subscription by the time 5 years have passed

if you want an app, revanced is good. it has the same UI of the normal YouTube app (minus whatever you don't want, like ads or shorts or news etc, it's one of the most customizable ones I've seen) and besides adblocking has sponsorblock and return dislike and stuff built in (optional ofc) you can still use new pipe for downloads when you press the in-app download button and I like that feature a lot.

my other suggestion is Firefox + ublock origin. can never go wrong with the classics haha

edit: revanced.app is the official site

If on ios, Unwatched is my holy grail

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 weeks ago

You could also simply use firefox

Have you tried changing your DNS to one of these:

  • 194.242.2.4#base.dns.mullvad.net
  • 76.76.2.2#https://freedns.controld.com/p2

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

I think YouTube was having issues. Try using NewPIpe again.

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 2 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

It's not working yet, but Firefox with ad block is

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

That's odd since it works for me

Are you using the Newpipe F-droid repo?

[–] RageAgainstTheRich@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I am having the same issue. It hasn't worked at all lately and 9/10 videos tell me to open it in the browser.

I had to look around for it, but newpipe po-token version is still working for me. It uses some different method of fetching the video, but with the same interface.

[–] bestboyfriendintheworld@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

On iOS, I use the website with Safari with 1blocker to block the ads. Works well.
