But the Reinventing Government project was nearly the opposite of the abrupt, chaotic Musk effort, say those who ran it or watched it unfold. It was authorized by bipartisan congressional legislation, worked slowly over several years to identify inefficiencies and involved federal workers in re-envisioning their jobs.

You read the whole article?

In defense of OP, that's the article's title

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

No, the article title doesn't paint the actions of Musk and DOGE in as poor a light as the content of the article.

If anything I'm positing the OP saw an article title that could be seen as a positive for Trump/Musk and posted it here.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

lots of assumptions there. it's an ap news article, they wrote it, they created the title. I posted it. I followed the rules of the community.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 weeks ago

Your refusal to make any good faith arguments about the content of the article tells me everything I want to know.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 weeks ago

yep and it's against community rules to change the title. so I just used what AP News used.

Trump isn’t making cuts.

Presidents don’t get to cut funding. He’s stealing your money.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 4 weeks ago (3 children)

Ok, but did Clinton do this in the dumbest fucking way possible?

That’s the difference.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 weeks ago

Yeah, there's a difference between reform and sabotage.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 weeks ago

That's actually the point of the article. Just a bad headline from the editor.

“There was a tremendous effort put into understanding what should happen and what should change,” said Max Stier, president of the Partnership for Public Service, which seeks to improve the federal workforce. “What is happening now is actually taking us backwards.”

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 weeks ago (4 children)

I like how Musk is doing it.

[–] Gimpydude 22 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Are you actually serious? You like the utter chaos that's happening, the loss of institutional knowledge? The harm that this is causing people?

[–] [email protected] 23 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Troll or moron based on the username.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Or just someone who has a different opinion than you.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

have you heard of bone smashing?

its a “looks maxing” idea where you can literally hammer your face into a different shape.

Great idea or just DiFfErEnCe Of OpiNiOn?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't know what you are talking about

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 weeks ago

Nah, this kind of chaos at a government level is objectively bad.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 weeks ago

The dumbest most chaotic way possible?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Then why did you post this?

Those familiar with the Clinton-era Reinventing Government push say it holds lessons for both how to remake the federal bureaucracy and the comparatively meager savings that can be achieved from such an effort.

“We did it without a constitutional crisis,” said Elaine Kamarck, who ran Reinventing Government as a senior Gore adviser in the 1990s. “Unlike these people, we didn’t think there were vast trillions in efficiencies. ... Their mandate is only to cut. Our was: Works better, costs less.”

“It requires speaking out. It requires saying, ‘That violates the law, that violates the authorities of the executive,’” said Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago

because it's a news article and this is a new community

[–] [email protected] 18 points 4 weeks ago

This is the same Republicans that kept Clinton mired in impeachment hearings for a blowjob ?

Now they are using him as a role model.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Everyone, please just block the troll. That's what I'm doing immediately after posting this comment.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 weeks ago

[–] [email protected] 12 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

So AP News is fascist now? What!?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Your name is Donald J. Musk and you call yourself a conservative who demands self-reliance. If you support fascists and their policies then you are a fascist

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

I don't support fascists though.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 4 weeks ago
