This is the dumbest thing ever, there are exact measurements of drink you get in your cocktails. While it is still extortionate, the ice is not the problem

The ice is there to make the drink look bigger. There is no need for it to be that big.

This is incredibly high quality ice. And its there to provide large surface area dilution.

Actually there is, the bigger the ice the slower it melts. So unless you want a drink that is 25% water after 25 minutes, you'll want as much ice in your drink as possible.

That's what he said

Do you have any idea how hard it is to make an ice cube that size?

And clear ice, with no bubbles.

You are not going to get more than a few shots worth of alcohol in a mixed drink anyway. Watch this https://youtu.be/CuhrbiaVruE?si=IpateaiCX1RfmjzR

The problem isn't the amount of liquid, that's standard. Unless this bar invested in a special ice maker, they're likely buying these at 4 dollars each block, that's a huge premium on top of the liquid in the glass.

This is what goes on c/Videos nowadays?

I'm a bartender, the people who complain about ice are the same people who complain about their negroni not having enough liquid in it. Please just listen to your bartender they absolutely know more than you.
