Summary

Protests erupted across the U.S. in response to Donald Trump and JD Vance’s Oval Office bullying of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Demonstrators gathered in cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Boston, waving Ukrainian flags and demanding continued U.S. support for Ukraine.

In Vermont, protesters disrupted Vance’s ski trip, criticizing his stance. Many labeled the White House meeting an “ambush” and condemned Trump’s ultimatum to Ukraine.

The protests reflected growing public frustration over the administration’s shifting stance on the Russia-Ukraine war.

Trump's 'America First' now looks more like 'America Alone'—a gift to Moscow.

[–] uienia@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Well they are not alone, as you said they got Russia.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 12 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I gotta say, I did not have "America becomes Russian vassal state" on my bingo card

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Should have been your free square.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

My free square just says "Trump". Which I suppose is kind of the same thing

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I did. It was obvious since the Mueller report.

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, whoever is surprised by what's happening wasn't paying attention.

[–] ItsJannnneee@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago

He's never cared about America. It's always been about power and sucking up to dictators.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 34 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Wonder why one war was more important than the other in 2024...

I don't know why enabling netanyahu's genocide was a greater priority for the biden administration than Ukraine ever was. Or indeed, anything else for the entirety of his term.

[–] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 3 weeks ago

Oh honey, find a new song.

[–] absentbird@lemm.ee 4 points 2 weeks ago

Biden gave Ukraine $120 billion for defense against the invasion.

He gave $18 billion to Israel and $2 billion to Gaza.

It was crazy to see waves of cops converging on Gaza protesters while college admins are dragged up in front of Congress to be harangued for allowing ISIS to infiltrate their campuses.

I wonder if we'll see Ukrainian protesters get the same treatment.

People are so easily manipulated into supporting war.

[–] Tinidril@midwest.social 73 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Not supporting war, supporting winning - as opposed to losing. Support for war is irrelevant once the invasion begins.

The US can't stop the war. Ukraine can't even stop the war. The Ukrainian government could just give up, but then the occupation begins, and that's the hard part. The people of Ukraine aren't going to just roll over and play nice while Russia dismantles their society. They will fight back, and it will be bloodier for both sides than the clash of armies was.

Anyways, that's way more of an answer than your dumb ass comment deserves.

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

This coming from the same people that whitewashed the entire Bush administration...

[–] Tinidril@midwest.social 11 points 2 weeks ago

The best as hominem you can come up with is just a wild guess that I belong to a group that I don't?

[–] MellowYellow13@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Nice argument.

[–] uienia@lemmy.world 42 points 3 weeks ago

Yes, the support for Putins war is definitely a very bizarre thing.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 34 points 3 weeks ago
[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 3 weeks ago

You, for example.

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 23 points 3 weeks ago

Who is supporting it?

[–] hansquatch@lemmy.today 16 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

What are you implying with this comment?

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 43 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

I've got this dude tagged as a russian apologist. So I've seen him say russian talking points all over lemmy. Not even worth responding to his dumb comments.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 11 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

I decided to just cut to the chase after skimming the comment history, the user is tagged as "Russian Asset" in my voyager app.

Regardless of if they are getting paid or not, they are a russian asset based on their actions

[–] skarn@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 3 weeks ago

It's almost enough to look at his account name...

[–] margaritox@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I too really wish people didn’t feed the trolls.

[–] uienia@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

They aren't trolls, they are your average .ml tankie, and they do believe the horseshit that they spread.

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Yep, these tankies are a different breed of dumb.

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

Tankie is to liberals what woke is to Republicans. A name to call everything you don't agree with. That's why we call you BlueMAGA

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

everything I dont like is Russian

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Lol sure thing kid.

[–] mohammed_alibi@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ask yourself who the fuck started the war... And on whose land is Russian military on?

I don't support war. I support Russia getting the fuck out of Ukraine. And if that requires force, then I support it. Russia can leave immediately if they want.

It's remarkable how many people can't read rules around here specifically rule number 3

If Russia just stopped invading a sovereign nation, there would be no war.

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If the US dissolved NATO there would be no war

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

And there'd be no Europe.
