Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said Australia is "open to consideration" of its involvement in any peacekeeping process in Ukraine, despite a government spokesperson's suggestion a day earlier that the contribution of troops to a peacekeeping force was "not under consideration".

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has said he does not see a role for Australia in sending troops as part of a peacekeeping process, echoing US President Donald Trump's suggestion that Europeans should "do more in the defence of Europe".
