I just wanna tell my fbi angel that I will be ok when they get fired.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 weeks ago

Awww, so nice.

Can you serve as a job reference for them? "Yes, agent 83847 was sooooo stealthy. They never once accidentally sent me a dick pic."

Probably. Not like it's hard to make an account.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

They don't need an account to read everyone's posts. The real stealth is that some instances are likely run by states so they have your IP.

( I found it odd that Lemmy.world, which claims to be in Netherlands, censored many Luigi threads during the first week.)

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 weeks ago

They probably don't want to get sued. I disagree with removing Luigi posts, but they're a huge instance run by individuals who also have a life and getting sued would be catastrophic

.world has a community dedicated to him by now. Maybe they were a bit overprotective at the beginning. I think I saw a post once that said "don't post such memes in communities about XYZ". Maybe it really was more a community thing than the instance

Well, some people took it a bit too far. I get the message that health insurance companies are hell, but applauding murder… Are we better than them if we do that?

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Am I better than someone that legally murdered hundreds of thousands for cheering someone that illegally murdered that 1 person? Yes. Yes I am.

My point is, using the opportunity to open the debate on the complete despair of people oppressed by private healthcare is the way to go. Let's just not make this about revenge on the rich CEOs involved. Removing their privilege is revenge enough.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 weeks ago

You're welcome to that view. I am welcome to my view of- yours is a naive take.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago

Removing their privilege is revenge enough.

And how would you do that? By voting very hard?

I agree... like on a theoretical level. Then, USA is what it is, with their school shootings and all. So, what Luigi Mangione (or someone else) did should be seen in that context. There's a certain virtue in knowing to direct your anger/ despair to those causing, enjoying, and profiting over your misery. And it wasn't a mere revenge act, it is full of symbolism if only because here we are, discussing it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

True, there is some amount of gun violence glorification in the US. And it's completely sane to be angry at your oppresors, but it needs to be channeled into something productive. Killing CEOs is just gonna make them pressure governments to increase repression with armed police and global surveillance. Violence begets violence, so it should only be used as a last result.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Agreed. And I have to say, to me it did seem like a reaction that came from rock bottom (in his individuality). And it was interesting to see other healthcare companies (like the one called blue-something) revisiting their recent measures on screwing people...

This reminds me of anarchistic work from Severino Di Giovanni..

The fbi is always monitoring far left spaces. There's an old joke that half the people at any given communist party usa meeting are cops/fbi.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The FBI would NEVER use Lemmy and interact with leftists! 👮

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Nice try mister fbi agent 🧐

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 weeks ago

To make this clear: Nicole isn't FBI. You can trust her.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago

To paraphrase a common joke, it's called the Fediverse because it's full of feds.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 weeks ago

LOL, FBI 😂

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 weeks ago

Hello, fellow communist extremists 👮

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 weeks ago

I like to occasionally post my socials so my FBI agent knows what to follow when they're axed 🥺

I have some weird affection for the tankies that I shouldn’t have. They’re objectively horrible people for their views, but I got so used to pissing them off with referring to a certain cartoon animal that I’d kinda miss them. How can I make it stop?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

Needs more Pastafarians

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

There’s an atheist group?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Lemmy atheist reporting here. We're quite a minority here, and I've seen more "um, ackchually, [christian right wing extremeist] isn't a real christian, real christians are all loving and not hateful bigots" way more often than people criticizing religion.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

Well, now there’s one more atheist here.

Denialist christians are the worst kind of toxic positivity christians. You can’t be complicit in something horrible for decades and then turn around and say “not us” now.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Lemmy ✅ Linux ✅ Atheist ✅ Left leaning ✅ Tankie? I’ll get back to you on that

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

Honestly dealing with tankies is far easier than having capitalism shoved down your throat in the form of paid posts and ai "engagement" comments. I never get the feeling anyone is trying to sell useless shit or running some half-assed psyop on me.

I even got a new polish gf named Nichole!
