News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

I get you're angry, but I don't think this is the best way to get people to try out Lemmy

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 weeks ago

You'll be ok

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Heck I didn't even know Lemmy existed a week ago. Nothing is worse than not knowing. Curious people will check it out and if they like it they will stay. It would be better with a link to a beginner guide but it's still for the better.

Welcome to the land of the free range lemmings and mastodons, weary traveler. You may proceed unto the Fediverse with Saint Luigi's blessing.

Look at our hero! Praise be

I hear Reddit logs a backup of your last comments edit, so maybe run it twice

Great. So the least we can do is remove our comments so Reddit gets less valuable to advertisers

They did restore them during exodus tho

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

Got to return to the scene of the crime I guess

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

yeah, i want to word it a little better also, it was 3am and i had never used this tool before.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Finally got around to it. Running it now after... a couple years of being inactive on Reddit? They won't suspect a thing

Apparently, writing an inspiring post about taking action and ways to protest was just too much for the delicate sensibilities of the internet overlords. I was banned for “inciting violence.”

Who knew that encouraging people to stand up for what they believe in was such a radical concept?

Confused by the right wing angle. The community and website in general is still very left wing. /r/all is almost entirely anti Russia, anti-Trump/Musk and pro-Hamas terrorists.

The problem is that they're censoring Luigi because they've sold out and are afraid of becoming a hub for riot planning.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

theres been a lot of stuff like twitter was doing, censoring anything that is "against the establishment" and promoting Israel and Russia propaganda. and r/conservative still exists, which is VERY anti-human.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, there is a definite shift happening. I've seen it when I make new accounts. I keep getting pushed with trumper shit.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago

pro-Hamas terrorists.

Nice try.

destroying data like this kinda sucks honestly. I hate Reddit too but I wish people would not do this

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Not going to support it any longer. Not everything needs to turn into some profit machine.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

almost everything on Earth is a profit machine. your internet service provider is a profit machine. your house is A profit machine. you can move from your piece of shit country just to end up in another piece of shit country. so what do you do then? vandalize the internet?

I understand what you're doing and I agree with the sentiment, but I wish people wouldn't.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

So.... Everyone else isn't owed his words

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

it's his right entirely to delete them, obviously. I just think it's a dick move. people living outside of rich western countries with good universities benefit a lot from being able to Google questions and get answers from its index.

I don't think the answer is to just tear it all down or whatever. personally I don't give a shit how Reddit benefits or suffers

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

your opinion is duly noted.
