Explanation: Julius Caesar was not an Emperor, though he did, as a matter of technicality, die more than 3 years ago.

The statue is of his adoptive son, Augustus.

The letter J wasn't even invented until the year 1524.

Therefore, Julius never existed in the first place.

No way. I never heard of Ulius Caesar.

But why today, and not Saturday, on the day of old Julius death?

Laziness, impulsivity, time blindness, take your pic.

I choose laziness. Frequently.

Though he is known as Augustus, his name actually was Julius Caesar as well (he changed his name after his adoptive father passed away). So it is all technically correct.

When you're dead, it's for a while.

A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

RULES:

  1. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, etc. The past may be bigoted, but we are not.

  2. Memes must be Rome-related, not just the title. It can be about Rome, or using Roman aesthetics, or both, but the meme itself needs to have Roman themes.

  3. Follow Lemmy.world rules.

Not sure where to start on Roman history?
