In typical American Capitalist fashion, we're outsourcing our concentration camps

All my Salvadoran relatives cite the lower crime rate, when i mention the prisons are beyond inhumane “yes but the crime rates” but what about the innocent people that surely got swept up when civil liberties were suspended and people thrown in prison without trial “yeah but crime rates” how come the president is pro Putin? “Yeah but crime rates” you guys do realize he’s gonna eventually turn on you all, and already calls himself a wannabe dictator? “Yeah but the crime rates”.

El Salvador will become a fascist stronghold and everyone is just loving it

This looks like some coward Gestapo behavior. They know that if they showed their faces, we’d have their names in seconds.

Well of course. They originally where handling and processing the gang members from the Salvadorean country. It would be a bad judgment to go without masking and paint yourself, and your family, as a target for other gang members as retaliation.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

If they collect a paycheck from the police or military that target is well painted on already. But I agree, the masking does help with risky prioritization.

I'd watch some videos about the center. It really is one of a kind. El Salvador for better or worse is not fucking around with this place. I don't know if deportees would end up there, but it truly is a new kind of hell

The cruelty is the point.

two questions. why immigrants are sent into terrorist confinement center ? why Venezuelan immigrants are in Salvador ?

[–] [email protected] 41 points 3 days ago
  1. Because it's a slave labor front.
  2. Because it's a slave labor front.

Immigrants, not illegal immigrants? Well in that case this'll teach em for thinking legally residing foreigners are welcome on US soil! Yee haw! Pew pew!

Huh but Lemmy was so in favour of these prisons months ago when they thought it was only housing bad El Salvadoran gang members and not also thousands of innocent people swept up in mass arrests/trials without representation.

But I guess they only care now that it might be Americans being placed in them.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Where was Lemmy in favor of that?

I'm pretty sure I called them bootlickers cheering for a fascist if it makes you feel better

When was anyone not on the conservative instances in favor of this

Let's start with this great comment by @[email protected], so you don't just think it's me thinking Lemmy acts fucking disgusting when it comes to El Savladors current law enforcement bullshittery.

Wow the commentors here are disgusting. Innocent people get locked up so kids dont have their parents anymore because a psychopath of a president randomly locks people up. And they argue “Well its safer now so its fine”. The comments are worse than on many reddit posts.

That all said…

El Salvador was intensely dangerous and bordering on a failed state - it seems to be stabilizing under these actions.

https://lemmy.world/post/11759406/7388889

On one hand you have this on the other hand El Salvador turned from one of the most dangerous countries in the region to one of the safest.

It’s really hard to pass judgement when the safety and stability of the society has improved so drastically in such a short time.

https://lemmy.world/post/11759406/7398217

Having said that it does seem like a lot of them were guilty and crime has massively decreased. So from a purely good of the state and reducing crime seems like a good thing.

Of course innocents will have gotten caught up, but this isn’t a situation like in the US of police over-enforcing crime statues on certain minorities. The entire country was a puppet state of extremely violent gangs. People have fled by the tens of millions.

If the left wing politicians didn’t want a right winger seizing all this power, they could have done something too but they let themselves be corrupted by the gangs, so someone else had to do it.

Lemmy supports El Salvadors prison abuse because 'if you ignore the abuse, wow the results!. It only seems to be an issue when it's Americans being sent there now.
