Taken at the Vancouver Aquarium (Vancouver, Canada).

Heteroconger is a genus of marine congrid eels. These small, slender garden eels live in groups where each individual has its own burrow. Usually, only the head and front half of the body is visible. The greatest species richness is in the Indo-Pacific, but species are also found in the warmer parts of the Atlantic (including the Caribbean) and the eastern Pacific. Its name relates to how a huge colony of the eels looks swaying in the current.

Six new chicks for our backyard flock. These are three weeks old, today is the day I introduce the roost area which is a medium pet kennel. They will stay here until about mother's day because that's our typical last frost in Denver. The only other addition now will be netting on the top of the whole enclosure so I don't have to chase an escapee around my garage

edit: It's a baby pool that hasn't held water in at least 8 years, I keep it stashed behind the regular chicken coop. The cardboard is called "ram board" and used to protect floors on construction sites, I just take some scrap. The kennel is on the right, it's sitting on a milk crate so it's the same height as the lip of the pool. Ramp is just a piece of wood with a scrap of carpet stapled to it. Ramp is held in place with a spare allen wrench dropped through a hole in the ramp into the hole that latches the crate. Feeder is screwed to that 2x4 otherwise they knock it over. Waterer is filled with "chick boost", that shit is definitely worth it.

Photo is edited with "auto color", the light is a red one. Definitely use the red lights, the chicks will fucking murder a littermate if they see blood and the red light helps prevent that.

I wanted to get a photo of this birds head fur because it looked really goofy and cute, but it got scared as I was taking my phone out and started to fly away.
I didn't get his goofy head fuzz but I did get an absolutely awesome photo

Hell yeah, little crow.

I had to. We should have Prague Fridays, or something.

So, the (c) on the scan is 2012, but I took the photo on BW film in late December, 1990. It's one of my favorites - probably the favorite - of my own pictures. Although, it's not the one I get the most print requests for from friends & family. It's funny how your own memories influence your artistic impressions.

I'm trying to be more aware of the photo I'm taking. Try to capture something and use some basic rules like third. Took this photo a few weeks ago. Nothing sophisticated, used my Samsung phone.

Last week, I made a post about a demon in my backyard at 4am.

For anyone curious, this is how it disguises its form during daylight. Pretty convincing and a lot less unsettling.
