When my stubble grows in, I just have to play with it. When I shave it off, I just have to feel how smooth it is.

It's maddening and I recognize that people must think I look ridiculous with my hand always stroking my chin.

Have you tried fidget toys? I tend to stroke my beard or bite my cuticles, but my fidget toy helps when my hands want to be moving.

To add on to this, in front of other people, I play with my finger ring that has moving parts. It's a lot more descreet than playing with other objects.

Got any, uh, links for a, uh, friend of mine?

[–] potoo22@programming.dev 4 points 2 years ago

*looks around* Go to Etsy. Tell 'em your looking for "fidget rings". They'll hook you up. Tell 'em potoo22 sent ya. Idk about markets outside the US.

Fidget rings are great but it's hard getting them in metal I can wear, since I break out with most cheap steel rings. Had one in silver but since silver is pretty soft the ring isn't circular anymore but the fidget bands are and they slip off.

I have a silicon strip of bubbles... I fucking love that thing. Push a bubble through, pop it back out and repeat literally forever.

Literally the main thing learned during Covid - I fucking love touching my face. It's skin picking for me.

It's the eyebrows for me. I have no idea what it is that I like so much, but it just tickles my brain in the right way

I have trichotillomania (hair pulling) but only on my beard/goatee. Your post made me think people must look at me funny too, but I bet they don't even notice.

Lmao same, feels pretty nice but looks pretty dumb when you've removed most of the chin hair and the stache and neck hairs start to get long

Doesn't really matter as without that or shaving it just looks like the nerdiest neckbeard

[–] 2buu4you@discuss.online 3 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Never shave again! Boom problem solved. No way a giant beard could be distracting

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I have a thick beard and can confirm that I constantly forget it's there... especially when eating soup.

@xmunk @2buu4you

Something, something, beard ... something. 😆🤙

I've had this beard a full decade now. Think I'll take it all the way to the grave.

That beard is mighty enough to grace a dwarf's face!

[–] DarkWaterPhotos@mstdn.ca 1 points 2 years ago

@xmunk

According to author J.R.R. Tolkien, dwarves are on average between four and five feet tall.

I be all of 5'4" -- so I think qualifies? 😆😆😆
For shure too short to be a Storm Trooper.
