8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners.
The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Agreed. This is a mistake. Canada made the right choice in going ahead with all counter-tariffs even when Trump was offering pauses.
The best way out of this is through. The US cannot be allowed to dictate the pace and timing. If they want a trade war, they need to get a trade war, good and hard. No timeouts, no breathers. A global united front needs to pummel them until they promise not to do this shit again.
Trump didn't pause the tariffs, he just decided to do 10% instead of 20%. (actually 35% on steel and cars now)
No backing down until we get 0 for 0.
He already backed down, 2 or 3 times. If he wanted 0 for 0 he could have negotiated first like a reasonable person with intelligence would do. He made a threat, it failed and Trump backed down. It is not really any harder to understand than that.
I mean that the EU wants 0 for 0.
The EU averages 2% tariffs and Trump just imposed 10-35% tariffs on the entire EU, and the European Commission just cancelled the one tariff package it managed to pass in the European Council, the one that was directly in response to the US's25% tariff that is currently in force. Trump did not cancel this tariff, but we canceled the counter-tariff to it. It's one thing to be open for negotiations, but we're turning the other cheek here.
Oh I gotcha. I trust that the EU is trying to be the "adult in the room" by pausing their reciprocal tariffs. I'm sure they are just waiting for the point that there is no other choice. I think we all know that whatever Trump asks for during negotiations will be completely one-sided and unfair.
They should have doubled them instead, because fuck you, Trump
