I hope they figured out the streaming issues by now first episode was all kinds of fucked up. A shame because the episode itself was great.

Edit: Nope still fucked

sigh

This is quite disappointing. I just want good subs with Japanese audio. I don't know what the issue is, but it seems like this might be a case where the best quality is going to be found by sailing the seas.

It always is, the difference isn’t usually this bad though

Wait what the fuck do you ena UNFINISHED. I tried to find a source about this and couldn't find it.

Does this means there are straight up missing scenes in the north American version?

This is from the [DemarcoMustGo] release on nyaa but yeah it sounds like at least it’s slightly different. Could download both versions and compare if you want In just waiting for the Japanese versions to come out because fuck that noise

I was going to say how this looks like a Cowboy Bebop knockoff, but it's directed by Shinichiro Watanabe...

This just made me start watching cowboy bebop for the 100th time. So far it doesn't hold a candle it.

The premise, world development, and characters are all forced. Nothing like the subtle, beautiful show don't tell world revealing of Bebop.

There are very few shows that belong in the same universe as Cowboy Bebop, though.

Right but being from the same creator, and the aesthetics of this show, you can tell it's trying to be. And by trying purposefully to draw the comparison, is just makes this show look bad.

Oh I fully agree.

Now that the plot is getting rolling it's a little underwhelming, especially since it seems like a suicide squad knockoff. It feels a little like no one except our crew of misfits is really taking this "find Skinner" thing seriously, which seems really strange; it's not like it's a secret, after all. It also seems strange that hapna was so widely available when it can get you high. Even if it isn't chemically addictive and didn't have side effects or overdose risks, you'd still want to keep it pretty well regulated to prevent abuse or like DUIs or whatever, right? And I'm really hoping that they don't end up ignoring Skinner's point about trying to save the planet, since it's really easy for stories to counter "we need to make drastic changes to stop bad things from happening" with "it's wrong to kill people!" - true, but like, also, we should save the planet from climate change.

I only watched the first episode and it didn't grab me. The whole setup with Skinner publicly announcing a challenge to find him just kept making me think of Willy Wonka. It was a convoluted set up.

The rest of the run time being Great Value Spike Spiegel escaping from prison was so needlessly indulgent. It just went on and on and on. It easily could have been cut down to leave time to actually meet other characters in the first episode more.

Without the action, plot, or visuals especially grabbing me I just didn't come back.
