Trying to get back to creative work instead of just replication. This is my first attempt with my new skills, it's not bad but there are things I'm very much not happy with like her left hand for example. But I'm done struggling with it and ready to move on.

Wow really cool. I really like the art style.

What software did you use?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

Thank you!!

I use Sketchbook by Autodesk. Not the most robust piece of software, it doesn't compare to GiMP or Photoshop in features which is why I like it so much. Those tools have so much I get lost and my workflow is just so frustrating while I try to find things. This gets the job done super easily. Maybe one day when I am at the edge of what this app can do I'll move to GiMP but right now it has more than I can use.

I've heard that Krita is an amazing drawing software.

What are your experiences with it?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

Krita looks really cool, hadn't heard of it until right now. The UI looks intense for my phone but maybe on my tablet. Might be a good in-between before GiMP on a PC.

Thank you for introducing me to it.

I've been working a lot with Rebelle 7 personally and I like it for that reason. It's an art tool dedicated to recreating the physical/traditional art world and so it's much more streamlined in the amount of stuff it offers.

I can find everything super easily and I've never gotten lost while using it. It's epic.

(Also it has fantastic traditional art emulation stuff which is cool but more importantly the other stuff for this discussion)

Doesn't look like that is on Android. Unless I missing something.....

[-] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

Ah rip sorry. I missed that requirement. I have one of those laptops that fold back on themselves and turn into a tablet and I use it on that.

I almost got one but went with Android instead. I already have a Windows laptop and getting a second one seemed duplicative.

If I get to the end of this machine maybe I'll upgrade that too.

And I don't think I said I use Android here. I started doing this all on my phone that has a pen and slowly upgraded.

Hands are hard!

Looks like a firebender. My first though was Avatar's sun warriors, or maybe bhanti tribe:

[-] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Yes they are! And that's fire πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

On second thought she's 100% P'Li! You should watch this series if you haven't yet.

Jack from ME, too.

One day I absolutely will! It's on the list.

Any particular inspiration here?

I can't help but think of VI from league of legends

[-] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I haven't played that game but I love being compared to such a popular work! I wanted a fire based LGBTQ+ character with tattoos and piercings.

The clothing choice is because clothes are hard... Harder than hands it seems πŸ˜‚

Edit: I just looked up Vi, she's way cooler than this. Those robotic arms are fabulous!

I've never actually played the game either, I've just seen the show. Definitely check out the show if you get a chance though. It's one of the most incredible works of animation I think I've ever seen. There's not that many seasons, but they are high production and quality packed.

And usually flammable (so is body hair but that can't get too loose).

[-] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

If I were to make a comic with this character I'd probably try to use a reason like that to explain it. But explaining why everyone else is also in their underwear would be difficult.

Maybe every issue would be at the beach only? πŸ˜‚

[-] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Love it, but why all the squiggles? Tattoos?

[-] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Yup, I thought I'd fake tattoos. It's a part I'm not happy with as it looks like I faked tattoos. Lesson learned.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Still looks great. More detail there would improve it, but it still looks really good.

Rules

AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).

NSFW Policy: Nudity and suggestive content has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity or suggestive content, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity or suggestive content that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude or suggestive subject matter. If you aren't sure if your work is NSFW or not, just ask yourself, "Could I look at this at a typical office job and not get into trouble?" If you're still not sure after that, you should probably mark it as NSFW just to be on the safe side.

Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.

Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.
