Because it sucks as a government owned entity and deserves to die for its trespasses against the citizenry at large.
Honestly the 3-5min behind schedule average did it. Germans can't stand it when they're late. Ruins their whole little day.
If you complained to most Germans about an S-Bahn system with an average delay of 4 min, they'd think you're Swiss - according to the German railway statistics, any delay less than 5 minutes and 59 seconds counts as 'on time'
But that's only for now. Privatization did a lot of damage to the infrastructure because it wasn't maintained properly since long term isn't a priority in a for-profit organization. But the Deutschland Takt will make everything work great again once it's implemented in 2070.

Can't tell you how many times I've seen this but it's always good for a chuckle. I look forward to forgetting it and seeing it pop up again in a few months.
