Hey y'all, I'm here from reddit after getting falsely permanent banned and I'm wondering if the community is good?

I personally like the community a lot more... though I suppose it also depends why you were banned from reddit as to whether you'll be happy here.

If you were banned for talking shit on minorities, trans people or something like that, you'll probably find yourself quickly banned from most instances here. Unless you just avoid the topics

If you were banned for say, being a fan of Luigi Mangione etc... You'll probably be very happy here. Point is lemmy admin's in general are very open to the left, and very accepting of more or less anything but intolerance.

If you were banned for non political views... then I guess it depends a lot, You can talk far more openly on topics of piracy etc.... in most instances.

Welcome. Imho Lemmy is what you make of it, try not to be toxic and have a good time.

Welcome!

Here there's less people so it's a bit more quiet usually but decentralized! :)

If you need an android app I recommend Voyager, it has great customization.

Lemmy is like Reddit before the Digg migration... except the world is not like the world before the Digg migration, sadly.

Hey, welcome 😊

Welcome to the club!

It's like all things, it's what you make of it

So far, there are fewer RWNJs than reddit, which is great

Welcome travaler!

Same here. I’ve been suspended on Reddit and haven’t heard back on my appeals in over four months. Like, all I did was talk about gamedev, post pixel art, and share my free games when/where appropriate. Got site-wide ban after posting my game in a "Weekly Self-Promotion Thread" created by mods.

Lemmy is alright. Communities are smaller, of course, but its growing. Welcome!

You'll get banned here too, it's only a matter of time. There are activist supermods already in place and the admins as usual don't care

Also this place is terrible for engagement, you'll be lucky if even one out of twenty posts gets a reply

Former redditor here as well, this isn't the place you want it to be.

Lastly, if you don't suck linux dick they will comment stalk you for days

Honestly I think engagementwise if anything I see improvement over reddit. Less people, but also less competition so. I'd say on the whole my comments get 3x more replies and notices than reddit.

I guess I do suck linux dick, but can't really see what you can say that would get comment stalked. I've never seen someone reply on a non linux based post and get a reply like "oh but 3 weeks ago you said you were using win 11, so your input on world hunger is meaningless".

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

That's really funny because an 'active' thread on lemmy has maybe 5-10 replies

That said, I am STILL getting downvote stalked from comments I made against linux weeks ago

So I can't reconcile your experience with mine and have concluded you are a liar.

Its the worst.
