RULES (updated 01/22/25)

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
  4. Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
  5. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
  6. Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

I really like my evening piece of toast. Rounds the day off nicely

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I love my toast too. Often just with butter (spread quickly enough that it melts into the bread) and maybe just a little salt. Best snack when you're kinda peckish but not enough for something more elaborate.

Absolutely always available and little effort

I had a dream about hot sauce last night and now you've put a new craving into my head LMAO

Raisins.
Toast with ketchup and dried onions.
Bell pepper.
The fear of my enemies.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

That fear is delicious

A very small glass of half and half.

I'm a weirdo, I know, you don't have to tell me.

A banana with a tall glass of milk is both tasty and typically enough to set me right. And takes no time to prepare, which is a bonus for late night snacks so you're not waking yourself up too much. I like to keep a banana in the fridge so it's cold to match the cold milk, which makes it taste better together somehow.

I try to have a piece of fresh fruit (whatever's seasonal: right now it's mangoes) about an hour before I go to sleep.

Oatmeal. I'm as boring as can be. But I love me a simple nuked bowl of quick oats and some brown sugar in the wee hours if I can't sleep from stress, upset stomach, whirling brain syndrome, whatever. I get a small spoon, I take my time, I eat the warmth and think the thoughts and listen to the quiet sounds of a concrete apartment overnight and the trains outside.

Then, usually, I'm good. I remember the world is still okay, there's nothing I need to deal with immediately, and I have a belly full of lovely warm oatmeal telling me it's sleepytime.

I have it for breakfast every day! Have done for years. I have it with protein powder

Very late night? I'll probably have a yoghurt. Earlier if I want something tasty I will try to lean on popcorn.

Does the sugar and caffeine in the chocolate not effect you?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Cornflakes are my go to as well! You can't go wrong with them

I LOVE chips and hot salsa... mmm delish!

Dinner leftovers, cup noodles, microwaved eggs...

inb4 "eeeew microwaved eggs!" - fourty five seconds! No cleaning required! (Except for the glass bowl and spoon.) There are some tricks though, otherwise you're cleaning your microwaves oven 4AM.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

I like microwaved eggs for scrambling.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Late night apple is the best.
