I'm against authoritarianism so... if lefties are authoritarians I'm not left.
the left is literally about creating a stateless society. The term 'left-wing' comes from the French Revolution in which members of parliament who were against restoring the monarchy sat on the left side.
maybe have a look into left politics and theory before establishing that an entire philosophical set of ideas is 'authoritarian'.
Not when the left wing is only represented by authoritarians.
i would love to know the sources of media you choose to consume, i would also love to know who you think 'represents' the left.
even those who i think represent the left would be considered 'not left enough' or some other bullshit considering its an inherently, extremely disparate grouping of thousands of ideologies.

Not if lefty communities are only represented by the authoritarian wing.
Almost the entirety of Lemmy is left leaning, even more so than reddit was. So unless you're over in specifically ML communities you're generally interacting with non-authoritarian leftists.
We've even got multiple entire instances with a strong non-auth leaning. (db0, vtc, etc)

You can stop making politics part of your identity. Who we are may be in part what believe, but we are not at all the sum of what others think.
